I don't tend to ask for that which I understand to be near impossible to give. I also don't assume that I echo either the wishes or attitude of others.

I just want to know when it will be fixed so that i can decide before the cut off date if I will stay on for a second month or not.

Im gonna phone a mate of mine in Helkom in the morrow and find out WTF is going on :( since Sat this crap must come to a end jeeez. Gaming is not cool and watching sport is even more crap will let you guys know what is going on if i get a answer .
Somerset out :(

anyone lose authentication for about 30-45 mins? it just came back up now.

Hi same thing happened to me I'm in Cape Town (Kennilworth) All packages over the line died just came back 10min ago Afrihost Mweb Telkom. Weird...are you in the same area?

I got this same bull**** story last week and was told it would probably be up before the end of last week. Don't give us this lame repetitive story.
I want an ETR on EASSy and also a reason why your back up service is pathetic.

EASSy dsnt even have a website that is updated yet you running with them. If they cant even maintain a website how can they fix/manage an undersea cable?

This is what i got from your Dev team on friday and then I phoned telkom and they said my line is fine. I then tested another account and got full speed. I appreciate the feedback but don't lie to your customers and blame telkom when its clearly a problem on your network.

EASSy went up as we said, and I posted here on the thread. But latencies were not back to normal, and they needed to take it back down in order to do full maintenance on the cable. We'll get updates as the maintenance gets underway, and we're hopeful that it will be fully restored to what it was before the cable break.

We're running tests on International speeds, but from what we can see there doesn't seem to be a general network issue. While I do see a few complaints here, our tests are showing full international speeds on services, so we need to do more analysis and testing to figure out what the commonalities are.

Telkom is teaching me not to complain about high latency and that it could always be much worse i guess

11pm has come and gone and my connection seems fine. I hope it stays this way. I think I'm going to decrease my speed to 4Mbps though - it's not often that my speeds exceed 440KB/s. I could take out a BTGuard VPN and still save R100 a month.

International speed is still a problem and has been since Monday evening
If you can't detect it then you must be doing something wrong. Run speed tests from Cape Town to London and you'll get a terrible result (From 7pm)

If I run the same test to London on an other ISP -> FNB / Imaginet (IS) then it runs at my full line speed (8meg) to London. Explain that!... It's your network, it's broken. I've been doing this tests all evening and it's the same thing, Afrihost.

Is that still the case with you latency? Is it still fine?

Agreed, late evening it comes right. Ran a download at 750kB/s.

From 6pm to 11/12pm it's terrible. It's as if I'm being throttled in the evening (on a capped account)

Any feedback regarding the international issue some of us are having

I meant my connection didn't tank at 11pm. It totally died that time the previous four evenings.

Any feedback regarding the international issue some of us are having

I assume it has to be a Telkom thing, otherwise more people would be affected? Have you posted your line stats?
