Afrihost Uncapped DSL Feedback

Of course its not your your responsibility to sell stuff you can actually deliver. I could select and pay for a 40mbps line in the client zone while my line was synched at 2.5. My line is now apparently synched at 4mbps and I can still select and pay for 40.

That's not correct. :( Our system will only bill you once your line has upgraded. I have tested your line and an the maximum profile available in your area at this time is 4Mbps.

If you select 40Mbps in ClientZone the upgrade will fail and you will not be billed.

Anyone else in KZN experiencing problem with Afrihost Business uncapped?

I can access normal websites over port 80 just fine but any other ports seems to not work, so our emails , skype and VPN is down completely?

Yup it falls dead at Afrihosts side:

I've just changed my package from 2mbps Business to 4mbps Premium. I'm moving my offices from my home to a actual office. The line switched fast about a hour from 2mbps to 4mbps (websites said it can take 48hours) I changed my package only after that to the 4mbps Premium.

But I'm not getting anything near that speed...

Good evening, NarcoticJ . :) I'm glad to hear about your super quick upgrade, but sorry to hear that it doesn't reflect as such when you test. Please PM me your account info so that I can look at your account and help out. :)

Hi AfriFella

Just got it. :) Let's take it from there.

I'm sorry to hear that the agent had some trouble fixing your speed. Please allow me a minute to look into your issue and I'll reply to your PM.

Got it. I can't see any issues on my side line synced at 4mbps reset port and router. Telkom account running faster on the same line...

How are things running for you this evening?

As with yesterday, speeds slow on youtube and P2P in the evening. Will post agaiin after 10:30pm when I assume it will revert to normal.

youtube usually at 1080p no issues but after 6pm it can't even buffer 720p without having to pause and wait.

And once again, as if a magical throttling switch was thrown, speeds back to normal

Afrihost shapes;throttles; manages the network whatever they want to call it between 18:00 and 22:15. "Their network team" won't do anything about it. I've been on business and premium packages it doesn't matter. Peak times P2P drops to zero but that really shouldn't affect streaming (youtube)...my Netflix US sucks during the day but goes 1080p at 18:00
