I got an update from our network team that they've identified a classification issue (which would affect shaping on shaped products) which may have contributed to poor experiences reported last night and the days preceding.

This has been fixed, and we expect performance to improve. We only fixed that around 10pm or just after last night. If the IPC upgrades go live, then we'll have tackled this from both sides to ensure our clients have the best experience :)

Thanks to everyone for their contribution and support :)

So is it the capacity issue or the classification issue or will there be a new reason?
Performance seems worse since it started earlier...

The latency is definitely higher than normal. I've passed your results onto our Network Team to investigate.

Performance seems worse since it started earlier...

The classification issue was compounding the drop in performance that we saw when demand started to climb. That's why the troubleshooting that you do for us is so important, it really let us hone into the cause of the problem.

Afrihost is not playing open cards with their clients. I've just called Afrihost ADSL Support to find out what the heck is going on with line speeds...Only to be told they have been been experiencing high latency issues for the PAST MONTH!!!!

There is NOTHING on the notices page informing clients of any problems being experienced and the agent I spoke to says all they have been told to do is ask clients to send traceroutes and pings! ARE YOU FOR REAL!!!! The problem has been going on for more than a month and you asking for traceroutes?! You(AH) should have PLENTY of this information / data by now to isolate the problem? Why has the problem not been resolved yet? Its not sporadic other than its from about midday each day. This is not being transparent! This is milking the client and feeding them BS about " oh, sorry it might be isolated..." REALLY?!!! The agent indicated that its not isolated to one geographic area, user pool, line speed type, etc.

I changed to another ISP account just to test and my line is freakin flying!

Afrihost...grow a pair and take accountability for the problem! Resolve it. Could you be honest with your clients and tell them what's really going on? Are you experiencing peering issues, are your IP network blocks being blackholed by upstream providers and you trying to find a "solution"? The problems experienced is on ADSL and mobile network!

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!!!! I have 5x accs with AH! Must I move them elsewhere?

AfriGenie / AfriGuy - Say something!

A friend of mine is seeing the same thing on fibre so definitely not isolated.

There's definitely something fishy going on here and that's the thing that's p*ssing me off.

I for one now want real answers and real improvement.
I'm tired of the run around.

Should I have no answers by AM tomorrow, I am cancelling my accs. They may make some money off me this month but not next. I've also just spread the word via ANY form of comms I have to ppl I know that are using AH and they are going to follow suit...

@AH - expect some cancellations coming through in the morrow.

I'll need to follow-up on this, could you please PM me your details. I wasn't aware of any issues with regards to latency that go back a full month. There was an issue that was resolved last night that was affecting the classification software on our system software that was affecting our Uncapped Clients.

We are also in the process of upgrading our IPC capacity to ensure that our Clients continue to have the best experience possible.

Do know with which Fibre infrastructure provider he is?
