Afrihost Uncapped DSL Feedback

I have not made a single comment within a year now because my line is been perfect, only tonight i just cant download P2P, i USB tethered to a phone and got full speed, got about 60KB/s max on my AH line and it kept dropping to 0 then 10 and all over the place under 60.


Please advise.

Seems alright, i actually downloaded an episode directly after that one and it was at full speed.

Perhaps there was a service running in the background without your knowledge? I'm glad to hear that things stabilised for you. Keep us posted with feedback.

Hi AfriFella. I understand your shaping and throttling policies, but I've been shaped literally the whole weekend starting Friday at 6pm. Your call centre guy even read the 'history' or log of my account and indicated shaping is applied at 1.2Mbps on my 4Mbps uncapped package. Firstly, why 1.2 and not half my package speed? Secondly, your network seems to be always under strain because this happens way too often. I will now be moving to another ISP after 2 months on this package.
I have also tried your capped account over the weekend. This also had shaping applied.

Hi vorman. This doesn't sound like shaping symptoms. :( Due to the fact that only non-realtime services get shaped, shaping won't come up on speedtest results or and other realtime services. It's definitely something we'll have to troubleshoot together. Please PM me your account info.

Other services. I keep using Battle.net as a ping test since it's reliable. What prompted me to actually post this in the first place was horrible lag in Battlefront 2.

Will do when I have issues. Last night was fine, the first night in a few days to be so. What does doing ping tests to other sites change though? The point of the ping test with trace is to show all the hops with issues. It clearly shows hops on the way with issues?

Also, seems you guys got a new problem. What's happening at the moment?

I'm glad to hear that last night was better. :) I'm not asking for ping tests, though, but rather trace routes. Comparative tests outside of battle.net will definitely give us more information.

Regarding your P/L, our engineers reported a problem on one of our IPC links in the East. Our site has been updated and we're working on restoring service as soon as possible. Sorry about the inconvenience.
 
Internet is up and down for the last few hours. Packet loss in gaming. Bras seems fine. Why does this seem to happen at least once a week...Come on.

I'm not aware of any general routing or latency issues. Will pass these onto our NOC division to see if they can replicate.

I tried doing more trace routes like you asked from last time I posted. Do these traces clearly show an issue?

Loading images, gifs, website content and trying to play anything online was a pain in the backside yesterday. Everything is currently fine, I tried the traces again and final hops seem fine. No PL.
