The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa:
General Provisions.
Chapter 14.
Article 235

(Acknowledges and guarantees)
“…the right of self-determination of any community sharing a common cultural and language heritage, within a territorial entity in the Republic…”
 
Ok, please stop SELECTIVELY quoting the constituion,

The whole article reads as follows....

The right of the South African people as a whole to self-determination, as manifested in this
Constitution, does not preclude, within the framework of this right, recognition of the notion of the
right of self-determination of any community sharing a common cultural and language heritage,
within a territorial entity in the Republic or in any other way, determined by national legislation.

That changes the interpretation of the article EVER so slightly.
 
And just on that note of the Constitution of SA...

Your interpretation would have to be tested in the Constitutional Court of South Africa before you can even BEGIN to claim it as the right interpretation.

Seeing as you think the Western Cape is so useless and pathetic, you shouldn't mind if we don't want to be part of your country anymore.

I just want to point out to other people reading that you are actually in agreement with the succession movement, even though you are flaming.

ROFL. that wasn't flaming. I was merely pointing out to you that your "country" will suffer under independence. But go ahead, it will be interesting to see how well you do.

I notice you're attempting to ignore my post...

I shall reiterate, please provide VALID reasons why you feel your independence from SA is a right, and don't cherry pick, or quote out of context portions of the SOUTH AFRICAN constitution.

.. flaming wrong as well. The N2 gets a lot of traffic so it needs repairs like any other road. Doesn't it fall under the central government anyway?

The airport is getting a revamp. There has been talk of a parallel runway at CTI. We also have Ysterplaat, which has been touted as a 'city' airport.

The province produces wine, grapes, fruit, cereals (wheat) and other things. Not all the wine is cheap. We also have game and fish.

We have a nuclear power station, which you don't. This is supplemented by coal powered ones. Again, these are managed centrally by Eskom.

Don't knock tourism. It could be enhanced even further.
 
Sackboy : Afaik most if not ALL the coal powered stations are not located in the WC...

There was also talk of upgrading the Fisantekraal airfield into an airport. That talk was 15 years ago. Guess nothing came of that either :rolleyes:

Actually it's a military airforce base, which means it will probably be hostile to the WC government when it tries to secede. Next.

I bet your agriculture and tourism alone won't sustain you. By the way, next time you travel compare the prices of your precious wine with wine from other countries. SA wine doesn't sell well overseas. Not even remotely.

Eskom owns Koeberg Nuclear power station. So you think Eskom is just going to hand over their assets to a rogue state? ROFL. You're a funny man!

I am not knocking it, just pointing out that it is pretty much your only sustainable economic input, bar a civil war which would probably end that...

SA wine exports compared to most overseas wines have actually gone up 17% - alot better than anyone thought theyd do 4 months ago. Our wine does well overseas. Where overseas?
 
Wahahahah.. thats precisely what I'm thinking..

There are a number of strategic defense positions in the WC.. there is less than no chance the SA government is going to hand them over without a fight.... or they'll all become enclaves that are hostile to the new independent state.
 
For everyon else reading this thread : I am not necessarily AGAINST the independence of the WC.

What I'm trying to get here is for this Cape_Independence character to either understand it won't be as easy as it thinks, as well as to put forward some valid reasons and logic as to WHY the WC deserves it independence over other provinces, as well as legally how it will obtain such independence.
