ok, so we all finished with the testing...

tried so many combinations my head is still spinning! Basically, turns out that

1. my "OC" card of 765mhz is not THAT OC... Put it in his machine and it was actually a touch slower. His card runs at 725

2. my card in his machine runs totally fine. The benchmark in 3dmark06 was correct, and the test we did in far cry was correct as well.

Basically as soon as we tried anything in my PC, with his card OR mine... the synthetic/real world results came crashing down

Last thing Im gonna do is install a fresh copy of windows onto a normal hdd, not an SSD and see what happens with that. If that doesnt work then off to Frontosa...

UPDATE:

I so I just installed Windows XP, onto a normal 80GB

Did this to eliminate the issue of potential driver corruption or something... Also to eliminate my SSD being an issue.

Off to Frontosa in the morning...

Yup 3dmark never lies, you can run anything but 3dmark will find problems better than anything out there. What you buying at frontosa? Another thing is don't get excited about these overclock cards, they generally bump it up such a tiny amount it is not worth mentioning

He has 7 on the SSD.

Really wierd things happened last night.
1. His OC card was slower than my standard Asus 5850 in my machine.
2. But in his machine the OC card was faster than my Asus 5850.
3. For some reason CCC tried to overclock my poor 5850 to 925Mhz(from 725) which resulted in RSOD and some arb noises coming from my card... Seems fine though.. Really wierd as we didn't change any clock speeds..
4. Our 5850's in crossfire only scored 1000 or so points more than one in 3dmark06(19600), FC2 however saw a 50% odd FPS increase.
