Hi all,

I don't know about you, but I'm moving back to the older version, 7.5.

Currently AVG 8.0 is giving to many small issues.

1) I downloaded the odd 50-80mb of updates, but when I want to install it via a folder, it tells me memory low!? :(

2) When I disable auto update it leaves me with an "!" on the AVG sign down at my taskbar.

Did anyone experience similar problems?

Thanks

Hey kiepie ;) long time no see.

AFAIK 7.5 support ends end of May, so there's no use in switching back. Maybe try the AVG forums, if they have one? ;)

I've also noticed that it's more resource intensive than 7.5, my machine is extremely slugish with it installed.

Hi Tera, long time indeed, lol. :D

I've been on the AVG a few days ago, didn't find anything. But will take some time to browse through it again.

I have had no problems with mine. Running well on all my machines!

Gary, did you do an virus update via their website/folder or through AVG itself/internet?

I want to download the virus updates so it can be used on other pc's as well.

it is more resource intensive - but that's advancement for you... TBO, it just means you're edging towards an upgrade! AVG can't stay as resource friendly as its older counterparts forever!

runnin mine on 2 machines and 4 hdd,no problems, the reason for the exclamation is the update manager is not set to download auto mode.I set mine off, also i disable the watchdog service for limewire stuff

I installed AVG 8 this weekend, but it took a monumental effort. I made a mistake, telling the existing, installed 7.5 to scan my flashdisk whilst 8 was installing. Something got stuck somewhere and the installation froze. I had to kill the installer, remove flashdisk, and reboot.

Thereafter, I couldn't complete the installation, nor uninstall 7.5. I was left with a partially installed copy of AVG 8 and bits of both apps lying around in Grisoft and AVG folders, as well as TONS of registry entries. I finally booted up as 'administrator', wiped the files and sat manually picking out dozens and dozens of registry garbage. Then I ran a registry cleaner and was finally able to install AVG 8. It did its updates and seems to have settled down fine now. I'll keep an eye on the performance demands.

1 Problem with AVG8 for me: It killed my LAN, R.I.P :(

When I start up the PC, there is no way on earth I can get access to my other PC at first. What I need to do each and every time now is to disable the firewall, access the LAN, and enable the firewall again. Now I can go crazy again till the next reboot
