BlackBerry versus Android versus Apple

Group 2 has no loyalty whatsoever, and would move to whatever is the cheapest hence me not mentioning them as a group, they where the Nokia/Ericson fans of the past and currently migrating from BB world to Android.

Ha ha I find your insinuation about Nokia users quite humorous...

How do they even class blackberry as a smartphone?

Many thanks for this. Am looking for prepaid and the MTN deal really does look good. Unfortunately Cell C is the only network with 3G coverage where I live. Ported from Vodacom because of this. Am making use of the Cell C three in one voucher presently but not ideal.

You are welcome buddy.

2012 is going to be a very interesting year - techwise.

There is more to come.

P.S. I am on the MTN 2GB per month deal and I am not looking back. Looking forward to better deals, only then can I change and those 8ta network deals just don't do it for me - no network.

Sorry 8ta.

If you using a Nokia 5110 or Ericsson T65 then yes I am insulting your phone. Dude seriously grow up and stop jumping to conclusions.

Lodged a complaint against Voda, BIS is such a joke!
Moving towards android next month

Really? I must grow up because I said I found your insinuation funny?! WOW!

EDIT : Oh, and I still do. Wide sweeping generalisations tend to do that.

I have just seen this on Wikipedia:

" Apple suffers under defects just as many times as other companies due [do] but are given a pass when other companies pay dearly for them. Since it is seen as "cream of the crop" despite not having the best in any category" — CNET Don Reisinger, Is Apple the Only company that can do no wrong?"

And:

"Apple has proven that effective marketing, secrecy, and a hype machine is a key point in ensuring a company is successful, regardless of the issues it faces".

Despite androids growing popularity, they still dont offer decent data bundles built into the packages. iPhone users get anywhere from 250Mb bundled. Would like to see the same offerings being made for Android devices.

With all these platforms gaining so much market share, which platform is losing market share? I'm guessing its Nokia.

What could keep Blackberry in the game will be Viber if they ever get the voice version right.

These sales figures are a joke.

I waited over 2 months for a 4s 32gb from Cellulacity Melrose Arch. The salesman, Shaoib, offered me a Note instead which I declined on account of the size. I personally know of 3 people still waiting for a 4s from Vodacom.

The sales figures are indicative of stock availability and little else.

As for BB popularity, with 3G data still costing in excess of R80 per gb, with Telkom adsl fixed line either still exorbitantly expensive bundled together with a landline and/or unavailable to a lot of people living in less 'affluent' suburbs, BIS is an incredibly appealing proposition.

Vodacom currently has 2.3 million BlackBerry users on its network, followed by 450,000 Android users and 250,000 iPhone users.

One year ago Vodacom had around 1-million BlackBerry devices on its network, with 150,000 iPhones and around 100,000 Android devices.

Holy crap BB had a good year with vodacom! Over a million users added!

Not read all the replies here so this might have been covered already. I see an interesting trend: People that moved from BlackBerry to other phones are returning to BlackBerry. Two of my tech savvy colleagues did exactly that in the last week. One moved back from Android and the other from iPhone. Why? Because they are gatvol of keeping up with their data usage and both got caught with seriously high bills over the last year. Both also bought tablets during the last year and feel that they don't need all the bells and whistles on a phone any more. Since I got into tablets I also found that I am not using my phone nearly as much as I used to for things other than communicating. Tablets kill the need for fancy phones for many who now prefer a simpler phone solution where cost can be better controlled and where communication is the priority. Makes sense to me. BlackBerry might be down but they are not out yet.

I helped a friend set up his new Bold 9900 recently and I was very impressed with it ... especially the value he got from Vodacom (extra battery a big plus). I loved the keyboard on my Bold 9000 and it was a joy to use it on the 9900 again. I actually felt tempted to return to that ... :) (typing on glass sux!!!)
