Cancelling Rain

Switched on router for 1st time in August, had a decent speeds 6-8 for short while then back down to sub 1-2..

Invoice for 07/27 was upfront so should be for a month.. but then received a 0 rated invoice for july with only usage shown from 07/27-07/31..

If they going to bill me for August at end of August.. I would be highly upset.. and wouldn't that be against CPA etc.. as the upfront should be for a Month of Usage Upfront.. where I barely used 6/31 days.. and cancelling due to poor performance, not meeting expectations or claims..

EDIT.. got a call from Rain Representative..

Switched Router on.. MyBB IOS App.. Speedtest: Ping: 112 ms Download: 0.76 Mbps Upload: 0 Mbps

They will be running some tests..

If one chooses cancel sim option it would be cancelled end of that month ie. if I cancel Today it will end 31 August

Pro Rata will be applied from 27 Jul 2020, 17:27 till 31 July and Full Month of August deducted from initial credit loaded..

rain_mobile Representative will look into getting it cancelled immediately and apply Pro rata Till now, after Tests etc.

@rain_mobile maybe clarify or post formal process if clients do which to cancel immediately..

Submitted Cancel Sim Request via Online Portal on 18 August, also followed by mail to support to be sure.

WANTING ME TO PAY FOR BASICALLY UNUSABLE SERVICE


Good day, I trust this mail finds you well, I am deeply disappointed with rain speeds and the fact that the live chat option has been removed from the website so all I can do is communicate via written mediums. I got my rain sim card activated on the 09/09/2020 with the unlimited plan. The speed is less than even 0.1Mbps no matter where I am or what part of the day it is. The speeds are as follows when tested on 0.01Mbps, 0.07Mbps and the best one so far, 0.32Mbps. I understand the offering is uncapped but what is the use of it when you can barely browse let alone stream a small Youtube video on the lowest quality.

I have tried between my phone and my router and the signal even cuts out on my phone. I have tried using both the rain apn and one that says internet on it and both are just as bad. I do not want excuses or methods of trying to get a better signal as I have tried everything including keeping my router in unobstructed places etc. I do not wish to be with a service provider that makes me pay for and hunt for decent internet speeds. I want to cancel this service with immediate effect, which is absolutely bad yet when I click cancel on the website they say that I will still be billed an amount of R172 on the 01st October 2020 which is absurd as I WILL NOT PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS BASICALLY UNUSABLE and should this fee not be waived or recalculated to a lesser fee, I will be sure to take this further.

I am on the rain R 250 package and also use their branded Franklin router.

Recently I was thinking, as one tends to do when you sit at home and your signal is down, could I request a discount from rain for the periods when I don't have a signal.

Although I am no lawyer the fact that I pay rain and they accept my money means we have a contract. The basis of the contract states that I must pay them R 250/m and in return they will provide me with unlimited data between the hours of 23:00 and 18:00.

Now we all know that if I do not honour the contract and fail to pay rain I will not receive any data. So surely if they cannot provide me with what I pay for I am entitled to claim back a pro rata portion.

Please do not reply with anything along the line of "if you're not happy you can change".

Rain decided to make this offer and I decided to accept based on the conditions of the contract.
Exactly my point!i have tried to contact rain several times get their call but problem never been resolved.....we have been without electricity for over 2 weeks in my area,that means i was ofline md still paid full amount.again to het very poor connection.just to view a pic on WhatsApp takes the whole 10 min or to get an error.o have never enjoyed this rain ever since i got it

I am now also considering cancelling. For months now DNS has been a problem and today is no exception. They give us a router that we can't specify our own DNS servers forcing me to manually put Google's DNS on every device in my home. My speeds have dropped significantly from around 650Mbps to below 200Mbps which makes fiber a definite choice for me for stability. When there is loadshedding, I cannot use my internet at all since I don't have the ability to set the router to 4G only. Then if there is only 1 bar on the 5G I cannot browse at all since it will keep on trying on the 5G and not the 4G.

Unfortunately I have been having the same issues regarding connectivity and speeds. I am deeply disappointed and would really like to just cancel with Rain but i cant seem to cancel the sim on the portal? Strange? @rain_mobile
 
I cancelled RAIN , on the portal . Got the Telkom 1TB deal . So far no issues

That is correct, cancellation will be effective on the 1st May. This means that you would still have connectivity till then.

In terms of your bill, due to the change to Unlimited 24/7 mid month, your bill would be pro-rata'd. You will pay a pro rata for the Unlimited Off-Peak service you had till the date it was changed to the 24/7 plan. From the effective date of your 24/7 plan till the end of the month, that is how you will be pro rata'd on the Unlimited 24/7 plan.

Hi,
How do I cancel Rain. I have experienced very slow connectivity on my 19/7 package for the last 2 weeks. Today I even upgraded to their 24 hour uncapped package to see if there is an improvement. But alas nothing. When will the service be cancelled, and will I be billed for this month?
I have cancelled rain simcards because of slow connection but their still debiting me even today

Aaah. The shitfest that is Rain. Went through the same issues posted here and was met with extremely bad service. Glad I cancelled last year. Good luck.
