Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

In Epping in Cape Town my Cell C connection is jumping from 0% (sos calls only) to 2/5 bars reception.

Rondebosh East Cape town both our phones are down still mine is showing as roaming but will not make a call the other one is showing cell c but just times out when trying to dial a number.

Well i am having the same problem here but i am in JHB, i called cellc and they said to me that my phone is faulty???? Then tech support suggested i use another sim and it worked, put my sim back and the signal came back i was able to call, This morning though again i lost signal, BUT i am able to use my data for internet etc, but i cant make phone calls.

Just dropped in again to say how terrible the CellC network is in Broadacres and Weltevreden Park, JHB. Looking forward to porting 21/09/2014. Thanks fools!

After being with Cell-C for many years without any major problem, I start to get the feeling of leaving due to bad service in our area for the past 2 years.
Nearly every day I have with no throughput, or connect but no traffic on the Data network.
As for voice, lots of dropped calls, receiving sms's 2-3 days late.

Every time I report it, few hours later it work fine, but after a few hours the same problem start again.
Had the technicians out here twice, done tests and both of them said that I am close to the edge of the signal, but that they can tweak the tower to be more reliable.
After two years of reporting, today I received sms saying that they can't fix it and I have to look at getting a pointing antenna.
What a lot of B******T, It was fine before they upgrade the tower and added another tower, but now with all this we have nearly no connection. Since when does the people have to move closer to towers? Aren't they suppose to bring their service to the client?

For those who do think about moving to Cell-C, do you homework before to take the step because Cell-C does not deliver anymore.

Same boat. Simple answer. Port. Don't waste time reporting an issue that's never going to be resolved.

man, cellc is terrible in isipingo. staying at my in-laws with my wife after she went for surgery and can't do diddly squat online. even vodacom is better. full signal, got the "h" on the signal thingy but no data. pages load either slow or not at all. I'd show a speedtest result, but on my phone it doesn't find a server to test.

As much as it pains me I'm honestly thinking of waiting the 4 four months until my contract is over so that I can leave the god forsaken Cell C network. I live in the Bluff and there is literally no data coverage where I stay. I'll be lucky if I can connect to whatsapp long enough to send a message (which takes about 5 minutes at a time). And that's on edge, on 3G my internet is completely non-existent.

Manenberg, Cape Town

Unable to make calls even if reception shows 3 bars.

Something about all sites at max capacity and a new planned site.

Cell C still almost unusable in Manenberg.

I'm really struggling with internet connection at my workplace. It's not a new thing. Has been ongoing since I started there beginning of the year. Thought I'll be able to work around it, or at least endure it. But I'm getting tired of it now. Sms, phone calls and WhatsApp text messages works fine, but browsing the internet is incredibly frustrating and sending files (images/audio) on WhatsApp also struggles to go through.

I keep getting the error screens below, and sometimes an "Unable to connect to the proxy server" screen.

Ok, I don't have all the information as requested at the beginning on the post. Well, I do, but that is the problem.

I have reported bad reception to CellC at the beginning of the month, completed forms, called again, etc. Funny thing is, they call me on my cell and either can't get through or get disconnected.

Here is the reason for my complaint. They want the GPS co-ordinates/address of the place where I have bad signal. So, what I did was to do a driving test, logging the signal strength, tower ID, connection type, GPS coordinates, etc, etc. This info I sent to them with detail on how it can be viewed online on Google maps. This driving test was from home to work, some 90km with measurements every 20m or so. My thinking was that this will give them a visual and detailed report on everywhere I am experiencing signal issues as well as supplying them with information like the cell tower, etc. I don't have a problem in once place, I have bad reception everywhere. So if we go anywhere, I mostly have to rely on my wife's MTN phone to keep us connected.
At work I have a signal strength between -83 and -111 and the guy next to me on VodaCom? -63.

Problem is that these guys aren't too clever and don't understand what I am telling them, even after me offering to give them this information on a spread sheet. The only thing they want to know is 'what is your home address so we can come and measure'. For what? So I can still have connection issues at the shops, work, on the road, at clients, etc. I GAVE YOU ALL THE INFO. JUST READ IT FOR GOODNESS SAKE!

Rhetorical question: Then they just close the call, because I put the phone down on them. Why do companies insist on employing stupid people?

I would have done a stop payment a long time ago, but then I would loose my number that I had for the past 16 years.
So pretty pretty please. Don't sign up with CellC. It is a bad thing to do and you will suffer like I am suffering now. Stick with MTN and their bad customer service or VodaCom with their... or Virgin mobile with their... Please.

I might add to this that the network is fantastic between 1 and 7 am in my area. Leads me to believe that all problems in my area is Network overload related.

My guess: congestion. Each 3G/HSPA+ sector can deliver 21Mbps download and 5/7(?)Mbps upload shared among all the users of that sector.
If there are many other people downloading at the same time you do your speedtest, your download speed will suffer. If not many of them are uploading, your upload speed can be higher than your download.

I am working in the Joburg CBD, but have zero data connection. I can receive calls and sms, but nothing else.

Is there a network issue?

Have you experienced this issue before? Let me know if the problem persist. *DM*

I have been having serious data throughput issues since Monday. The signal strength have not changed since last week, but there is almost no data throughput, my ping is high and the connection is extremely slow. This is in the Mondeor Johannebsurg.
