Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

Cellc is a joke. No LTE and they are the only network in SA that doesn't have it.. they have the 42mbs HSPA network in PE which is slower then their EDGE. I literally stand next to the cellc radio mask with a -49 dBm on HSPA and I get a UL of 1.3mb nd a DL of 3.8mb and a ping of 149ms. Please can one of the cellc technicians explain to me why PE has this pathetic network services???????? Please no "try clean your browser history" answers... please cellc staff....

I fear it will only get worse.... With the new smartchat packages and free whatsapp on 19th October we are in for a bumpy ride or more like no ride at all. I stood right next to a Cellc tower. I could almost feel the signal and I got max download speed of 1Mbps.....

I'm just trying to figure it out because I just can't. Are their towers just so bad with no capacity compared to Vodacom and MTN because the Tower next to the Cellc 1 is sharing MTN and Vodacom and I get 20Mbps on H+...........

Cellc is maybe only good for voice if you get one of these cheap nokia phones with only 2G coverage. Data wise I have never ever experienced such a poor network before to be honest.

Steynsrus, Freestate, 3G completely down after a 12 hour power trip, has not comeback at all. It's now been just over 24 hours without 3G

Terrible network issues again since yesterday can't connect with my 3G modem and my S3 Mini connects and disconnects , full signal on both devices. Using my Telkom sim now.

Cell_C (DM ) if you read this posting please let your Tech guys sort out this problem still can't connect.

Thanks.

I've just did an upgrade on the latest firmware (ZTE MF190) from the Cell C website and needless to say I still can't connect
See here trying to connect to Cell C Connection_Failed.jpg
And connected to Telkom Mobile using the same modem Telkom_Mobile.jpg

Does anybody else have a problem connecting with data in bryanston? There does not seem to be any data. Whatsapp has not gone through since this morning, yesterday the problem also existed. It is so frustrating...

I have and actual fact I have reported this problem to Cell-C more than 3 years ago.
They said that the tower there will be fixed, but it seems that I did nothing.
The few times that I was there in that area, after reporting the problem, still persist.

Had to go there for business and I was stuck because I could not do anything on the network.
It was such an embarrassing moment for me infant of my clients.

:( That is bad news. The tower was fine 2 weeks ago. Cellc fix the tower already.

Does the problem still persist? Please inbox me your details. I will escalate a.s.a.p. *DM*

Thanks for replying cellc. The problem still exists. There was edge for a hour or so yesterday morning and after that no data again. Today there is no data again. :( The only services that works is sms and calling.

Data starts working while driving home and there is no problems while at home.

Can't reach any websites on Cell-C at the moment. DNS works though.

I used to have Cell C issues. Then I went back to Vodacom 3 weeks back. Massive difference.
I have people thanking me for going back. They don't have to phone 3 or 4 times anymore before getting through.

Working again now.

Yip. Same here. It was such a relief to get away from the Cell C network. I stuck it out as long as I could thinking they would fix the network, but it seemed to be getting worse instead of better so eventually I jumped ship. The low prices I paid back then on the Straight Up 100 package I think it was was great, but not worth the hair loss or repair cost to my phone from me potentially wipping one last time and gooi'ing it against the wall.

I haven't been receiving sms for the last few days and people are complaining that my phone goes straight to voice mail. I also noticed that USSD codes aren't working?!

Dear Cell_C

Have any changes been made to the network regarding gaming protocols? I've been playing Dota 2 over the CellC network for a good couple of months, but in the past 2 weeks it has become impossible. Connecting to steam requires multiple retries to successfully login.

Normal browsing works as expected.

Kind Regards,

Or you can just ignore me Cell_C, it's not like I have thousands of rands to create a public banner.

Dear Cell C

I have been a loyal customer of yours since the day you started offering your services, because I believed we needed a network provider to counter the stranglehold of Vodacom and MTN.

However, for quite a few months now it has been a great frustration to make calls and receive calls on my cell phone. I am in the Bronkhorstspruit area and it is virtually impossible to make a call. The reception is so distorted that all I can say to the caller is, "Sorry, repeat that please; you are virtually incomprehensible. I cannot make out what you're saying." And in the end I have to terminate the call because there is just no way I can understand what is being said. I have to phone back the person on my landline. This is not only the case on my one cell phone, but every other one of three cell phones in my house.

I am due for an upgrade at the end of the year, but what is the use of this if there is no service? I have hours of free time and hundreds of smses unutilised because reception is atrocious and also smses go through hours after they were sent.

I have serious reservations about continuing being a customer of Cell C. I must say I do not blame the person who put up that critical billboard of Cell C's ***ty service. You really have to jack yourselves up if you do not want to face a mass exodus of previously loyal customers.

In your favour I have to say that when I reported my problem there was feedback and initially there was an improvement in the sound quality, but within a few hours I was back to square one.

So PLEASE do something for all of us before we decide to find quality service elsewhere!!
