Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

Vodacom provides 2G (Edge) coverage for CellC subscribers when they are not in a CellC coverage area. MTN and Telkom mobile have the same arrangement. To provide CellC with more detailed information, put your iPhone into Field Test mode. 1. From Phone, Dial *3001#12345#*. Your iPhone will launch Field Test. Your strength bars/circles will be replaced with a number. The number you see is your reception strength measured in decibels. The closer to 0dB the stronger your signal. This information is far more useful than the little signal dots displayed which are only an indication, like asking someone how they feel and they tell you, "Oh, about a three out of five today". Finally, depending on your iPhone model, make sure that LTE is turned off as the Apple Support Forums have many complaints of poor signal strength and dropped calls in poor coverage areas with LTE turned on.

Agreed, i will do some real tests and see what the differences are per operator.
Thanks for the info!

Today I was at a wine tasting in Durbanville.

Cell C H+ reception is full, but I was unable to stream a YouTube video everyone wanted to see. Friend takes out her phone which is Vodacom and the video works instantly.

Used to have that often. So annoying.
Time to move.
Exactly what I did 3 months or so back.
CellC contact ends in Feb I think. Will then convert my number to prepaid and port it to VC.
In the meantime I pay for a VC and CellC contact. I just needed to get away from them.

Had enough of this. Ported to MTN.

/unsubscribes from thread.

Had 4 days were I had the pleasure of trying to use Cell C internet since my ADSL was down. Worst experience of my life refresh pages 3 time before they work. did not even try any streaming. Don't even know how they call this internet.

I have the same issue and I'm in Cape Town. Just waiting for the contract to end next month then will change to either Telkom or Vodacom. Been with Cell C for more than 5 years but it is getting ridiculous.

Even at our offices in CTICC I keep losing service which is pathetic considering this is almost centre of town. And If I were to travel through the town near CTICC I always loser connections if I'm on a call.

Cell c contact centre said they would get a technician to contact me but no one has contacted me.

So i got a call from Cell C

Call went like this Hello, Hello, Hello can you hear me? .....
Lol

Cell C sms sending is down. Call C call center confirmed technicians are looking into it.

Saw this thread pop up again. Sad to see that things have not improved here. I moved to Telkom months ago and have never looked back.

No matter how much you complain, nothing will happen. Their service has been ****ty for many years, it will certainly not change today, tomorrow or the near future. I glad i have changed from cellc to mtn. Id rather pay more for good data network than little for no network

Never have problems on Cell C... But... Since last night, there have been issues. Throughput is non existent, half the time my phone indicates I'm on the Vodacom network and that rarely happens (two restarts to get onto the Cell C network and MyBB to see if anyone else is having the same problem), but worst of all, calls to the call center are useless... I can hear the consultants but they simply can't hear me... Cell C rep, can you shed any light on this?

I have found that disabling and re-enabling my mobile date returns fast service again to me for a few seconds/minutes.

Has anyone experienced this before?

I got a call from the Network Technician dispatched my my issue regarding coverage issues.
He politely walked me through the steps to turn LTE off on my phone and said that would sort out my signal issues lol

I am still on the Vodacom network in my area since CellC has no infrastructure in one of the biggest industrial area's in Capetown.
I have resided my self to the fact that i will be moving to Vodacom as well as making sure all my staff stay well away from any Cell C products.

Last week i had an issue with service in my area from Vodacom within the month they had put in signal extenders throughout my buildings at no charge.

CellC are clueless.

If anyone can help me with legal ways to terminate my CellC contract i would be most happy.

Thank you.

It seems I may have to apologize to Cell C.

There seems to have been some form of proxy settings loaded on my internet APN which resulted in my terribly slow network performance.

Proxy settings removed and the network has been responding great once again.

6 months of terrible data service due to invalid proxy setting. :/

Bought a couple of redbull simms yesterday R49 for 200mb per months to try out in the middle of durbs , all was well until about 11.30 then their network fell over .This problem is exactly why i left CellC 18 months ago nothing has changed ,
The MTN (afrihost) network believe it or not is even worse in the middle if durbs .
So that leaves me with Telkom or Vodacom .

I am currently on vacation in Kleinmond and have reported many times before that the network in Kleinmond is slow and congested. It is now peak holiday time and I am without any service for most of the time! Either no data connection or no call capability! Cell C is PATHETIC!

Sick and tired of reporting faults! Nothing ever gets done in the end! Just lip service to keep everyone happy for another few days
