Got Afrihost CellC LTE last month to stream online.
Initially the upload was okay around 2mb and after getting an external antenna it went to around 5mb.
Since last week it has gone completely crap.
I couldnt stream on friday as it dropped around 60% of my frames, same last night. Did the mybroadband speed test and my upload was at 0.01mb
And it's gone to sh|t again. Getting kilobytes to GOG and it can't even load.
Working again after they fixed their "whatsapp" issue.Sorry, man... They fixed my connection late yesterday afternoon, so obviously they had to turn one of their other customers off to do so.![]()
You've said it.I'm trying to figure out how anyone can actually use Cellc still.
What does Cellc have going for it except the pretty decent calling bundles billed per minute though and the discounted data via the app and website.
Throughput is horrible. I have driven around Centurion with a Cellc sim in a Samsung S10 and the best LTE-A speedtest I could get was 12Mbps download. Surprisingly the highest 16Mbps was while I forced the phone to 3G only mode.
Cellc seriously needs to refarm more 3G spectrum because with all the LTE smartphones out there LTE and LTE-A has become so slow and unusable during peak times.
You've said it.
No it's not. Its Axxess. At the end of the day it's a cell c sim card.
Cell C LTE is a blady joke. Almost every day it can only pick up 3g. This happens from around 5pm till the next morning.
This is the time I use my freaking internet and I am connected to 3g!
I'm cancelling my Axxess debit order even though they 100gb deal ends 31 November. I refuse to pay for something that does not work. I hate cell c with a passion.
Can you at least use the 3G? When my lte goes down it shows 3G signal on the modem/router, but I can't get any connection to the Internet at all - not even emails work.
My modem light goes dark blue which is 3g but I cannot connect to anything when its on that. Strangely when I came home yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks it was actually connected to 4g but it was pretty slow but at least worked.
Most of last week it would cycle between the red light and dark blue light. So super frustrating.
Yeah, sounds like my connection for past year - looks like a Christmas tree some days and nights. No-one can explain as yet why the supposed 3G "connection" equates so no connection at all - might as well be showing the red light for all the use it is. I've been told my issue is ultimately caused by too many people on my nearest tower, so it can only stay the same or get worse. Been meaning to start asking for an early cancellation of contract based on that, but I've been told the cancellation process is worse than the fault logging process, and I don't think I have enough energy right now to start it...
I think their network is under extreme strain during peak times as there are times when it really works well but all during offpeak times. That is the time that I do not use it. I heard that they are shutting down some LTE towers, maybe that could be why also. I have contacted Axxess numerous times to complain about this and they still refuse to let me cancel and forfeit the blady R900 odd cancellation fee, even though I only got the sim deal.
Mine is also off. Went off around the same time too. Using my vodacom data and it's running over 40Mbps.Last I read they were considering becoming part of MTN - comment from MTN on the proposal was fairly luke-warm - I'm assuming MTN is weighing up the increase in customer base versus the debt that Cell C will bring with it. At least you seem to have a cancellation option that's fairly easy (if expensive) to use. Check out some of the threads here by people who have/are trying to cancel their Cell C contracts through Cell C itself.
6:21 pm and my lte has gone dead again. Was working for an impressive five hours today.
