Cellphone masts: health debate continues

too much of anything isn't good for you. just make the tower look like a fake tree and people will forget about it. side note... glowing in the dark isn't that bad.......

You don't get the concept of the scientific method do you? How the hell do you prove a negative?

So you do not have proof. So you could be wrong. That was all that i needed to hear. Let us hope you correct. If i and many other are wrong....happy days. But the experts are not 100% sure then that is just not good enough.
But i am entiled to my opinion.

I see the [-]Telecoms[/-] Spin Expert is in full form.

So far, the data from studies in children with cancer do not support this theory. The first published analysis came from a large case-control study called CEFALO, which was conducted in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Switzerland. The study included children who were diagnosed with brain tumors between 2004 and 2008, when their ages ranged from 7 to 19. Researchers did not find an association between cell phone use and brain tumor risk in this group of children. However, they noted that their results did not rule out the possibility of a slight increase in brain cancer risk among children who use cell phones, and that data gathered through prospective studies and objective measurements, rather than participant surveys and recollections, will be key in clarifying whether there is an increased risk (19).

If there is a 5 percent risk would you give that loaded gun to your child? Or 1%. Or 2%
There is no 100% proof either way. But all studies do say there is a risk.

Municipality just approved the erection of a mast against my boundary wall ( 3 meters from my bedroom) even though I objected :(
How far from your head do you keep your mobile phone?

Might be true, but but if you boil it down to Maths, continuous exposure to lower radiation (from tower) over a prolonged period of time can can add up to be more hazardous then short exposure to higher radiation (from cellphone) during an average call
For radiation that is very often not the case.

Natural News, it's like The Onion, except the writers think the stories are true.

Ask yourself: Would you want to live next to a transmission tower?

To me, the answer is no. I'm sure many others feel the same.

So in that regard I sympathise with these people and hope they set a legal precedent.

Radiation exposure is very subtle since the effects can only be measured over a period of 10s of years. I certainly wouldn't want to be the guinea pig.
So we must have no cell towers then. How do we provide quality reception if everyone takes a not in my backyard attitude?

If there is a 0.01% risk of your car being totalled by a wayward taxi on the way to the shops with your kid, are you just going to stay at home?

I hope you don't run a microwave, a power tool or an electric mower, or anything with an electric motor, as they chuck out fairly strong electromagnetic waves, and maybe you die tomorrow.

You are also likely to die from the TV signals beaming through the ether, given the general level of shyte pumped out by the SABC.

That's from actual phone use not so? Furthermore is the risk greater than other risks that children are exposed to without a second thought (travelling in motor vehicles, playing sport, running, climbing and so on)? Admittedly paranoid parents will prevent their children from doing most of those things, although even they still put them in cars.

Well point me to your link and i will read it as well.

Yes the old problem with you is that you think you are the only one that can read. You are the only person that knows everything. Yes we get it. Master yoda

That's jannie and dare you argue with him about anything cellular or Vodacom related and he then comes back with his sarcastic attitude lol

Lets throw our gate remotes, microwaves, cellphones, cordless phones, TVs, radios, wireless headsets and wireless routers into a landfill. No more wifi, no more radio, no more TV.

All of those things produce radiation, so they must all be harmful. While we are at it, lets cover the earth in a giant ball of tinfoil, since the sun produces a massive load of electromagnetic radiation, and our magnetosphere does not stop all of it. Think of it - no more sunburn, no more skin aging, no more skin cancer.

We would live long and happy lives. I for one am keen. Its time we put a stop to this danger.

+1 down with all electronic devices! Viva! Viva!

Yes because we sit with all those devices on 24/7, 365.
That's the same thing riiiiight
As for the sun you do know about skin cancer or is that also a myth?

No skin cancer is not a myth, and the sun is by far the most powerful source of electromagnetic radiation in the solar system! Therefore, we need to block it off.

We dont use them 24/7? I am sitting in an office saturated with radiation from SEVERAL wireless networks. My cellphone is in my pocket and checks in with the tower probably every few seconds - testicular cancer here we come. Plus the cellphone has bluetooth, even worse. And both of my two screens emit radiation, directly into my face. Its a wonder I'm not dead already.

EDIT: Anyone who says cellphone towers are far more powerful, look up the inverse square law.

What it means is that you will receive 4 times less radiation from your cellphone if it is 2m away rather than 1m away. As distance increases, the strength of radiation is decreased (divided by) the square of that distance. So, because things like cellphones and routers are so much closer, they are more dangerous. Especially when you put your tiny death machine, sorry cellphone, next to your head, and blast lethal radiation right through your brain for hours on end.

Eish Beri, how'd the education system let you down so badly. :(

I'm still waiting for him to explain div, curl and grad of an electric field. If he's read all these papers on the dangers he'd at least some understanding of the mathematics behind electromagnetic radiation right?
