I promise you, I paid R2,999 for it at Makro Germiston. They had it in store at R3,999 but after I pointed them to the website, they gave it to me at R2,999.
I went back to buy another 2 on Sat, and they were sold out.

The HD-PVR display is 720p or 1080i, and not true HD (1080p). I only found this out while they were installing it. But still amazed at the quality.

Ripclaw: The decoder outputs RGB, YCbCr and HDMI. I have the HDMI outputting to my projector and the YCbCr to a 23" LCD screen. They both output at the same time which is nice.
If you only have DVI on your TV, then you can still use the HDMI output. Just get an HDMI to DVI convertor. DVI is HDMI minus the audio signal, so no change in picture quality. My 40" LCD downstairs also only has DVI, and I used this method to hook the PS3 up to it.

Peder: It is no longer listed. When I got mine, they had stock at Woodmead and Germiston. I posted a thread at the PS3 forums and someone else got the last one at Woodmead.

And ye, the link posted by Rahl is the correct one (http://za.lge.com/md/product/prodcat...tId=1100000681). Only difference I have is mine is white as they had no black left in stock. Even at R7k, this projector is worth it. I just was looking at the right time and right place, and hit a big luck.

Toxicbunny: I got it about a month back. Only clocked 80 hours on it so far.

Jetlee: Not mislead dude. Saw it on the site, went to Makro Germiston, purchased it based on the website price (Paid R3,998 including the screen for R999), went home and installed it, and am using it :) The information supplied is based on first hand experience and purchasing it. I think I just hit a luck as it is nowhere to be found for under R7k or so now.
I dumped the screen however, and made a DIY 120" screen. The bought one was too small.
 
Thanks Mike .. but that lg sa link is also broken .. could someone supply us with a model number, so we can see the specs .. I still think it may be a 800x600 model .. which makes it a pretty standard type projector (not HD Quality), just at a good price ...

The reason I ask .. is that Im holding out for HD native res projector .. and at this point .. even 7k is cheap if this is a 1280x720 native res model..

http://www.lge.com/products/model/detail/AN110W.jhtml is the exact same projector I have mounted on my wall.

When it switches resolution on the HDMI port based on what you are feeding it, it shows the resolution you are switching too. And 1080i pops up when I watch DVD's, play XBox and 720p when I play PS3. From the PC, it switches based on the desktop resolution. When watching blu-ray movies on the PC, is switches back to 1080i.

The specs speak for themself. I watch movies and play games in HD on this projector.
I use a 4 port HDMI switch to feed PC, XBox360, PS3 and HD-PVR HDMI signals to it.

What makes you think it is 800*600? I would not even bother to buy a projector if that was it's max res.

If you are in Gauteng, you are welcome to pop around to see the quality of this projector. I don't mind if that is what you need to be convinced of the insane quality of this thing :)

Hi guys,

I have a question with regards to getting into HDPVR. I live in a complex in Cape Town called Rondebosch Oaks. The telecoms and DSTV are run by the wonderous Vodacom Gated Services. *yay*...

I have one DSTV line coming into my flat. I asked the body corporate if the system is "HD compatible" yet and they said that they were going to upgrade it soon. My question - will I need to just plug the HDPVR into the wall plug with one cable? I presume that VodacomGS must use a SATCR LNB if there is only one wall plug in each flat as the system currently supports SD PVR.

I have a sheet that explains all the different frequency settings that you need to enter to pick up all the channels etc on SD PVR (frequency multiplexing?).

I hope this is the case... :)

My HD-PVR has 4 cable inputs on the back. Not sure how you would configure your setup with a single cable, but I am no pro either. Just answering so you get some sort of response :)
