I heard on a Radio Advert this morning that Telkom are indeed supplying WiFi - so that means people with no ADSL lines have a way to get MWeb Uncapped (R219 p/m)
PS: You also DO NOT NEED a normal telkom line to connect to their wifi network (So you save R130)

Not all it's cracked up to be, as billing is time-based as opposed to volume-based.
Max down: 512K
Max up: 256K

No it's not what the person thought it was. You can't subscribe to some or other ISP etc etc and use this service.
This service is a stand-alone offering similar to the IS hotspots around the country.

Little thing to be known about WiMax... if you call the number to order WiMax, they put you through to the WiMax planning offices to check coverage...
That "number" they put you through to, has been suspended.
The WiMax planning office doesn't exist anymore.
Either way, WiMax is HIGHLY temperamental. I tried to get a year ago.
Signal level was fine, but I have 2 (yes, TWO) trees SLIGHTLY blocking line of sight... the tech tha was sent to check sent in the report and they declined installation based on unstable conditions.
2 weeks of arguing with the planning offices went nowhere.
Tried again some few months ago, found out the planning offices dont exist anymore.
Tried everything, seems its impossible to actually order WiMax at all anymore...

I think Icasa must make it law that ADSL cap applies to every single service provider. So with Vodacom, it will be the same as Telkom, you pay for your ADSL or HSDPA access and then buy data from any service provider.

Data Reduction
Vodacom has announced that from May 1, customers will receive between 17 percent and 60 percent more data free, on all Data Bundles smaller than 3GB.
Most customers will receive 20 percent more free data, and in certain instances will be paying as little as 17 cents per MB.
The offer applies, regardless of whether the customer subscribes to a Data Contract or buys a once-off bundle to use on an ad-hoc basis and is available on both the Broadband Advanced and the Broadband Standard services.
Customers, who subscribe to the Broadband Advanced service already benefit from the in-bundle rate being the same as the out-of-bundle rate, and will now benefit even more from the reduced rate per MB.
For example, customers who subscribe to a Broadband Advanced MyGig One bundle would previously have paid 38 cents per MB whereas from May 1 they will only pay 25 cents per MB. This makes the Broadband Advanced bundles the most compelling data offer in the market.
In addition, this new offer provides customers with certainty regarding their monthly data costs as they receive the additional free data at no extra cost, which is also available for up to 60 days as per the existing bundle.
For customers who normally use more data than the bundle they purchased, the additional megabytes increases the allocated data per month, affording customers the opportunity to enjoy the lower in-bundle rate for longer.

Nonsense, Telkom 3G - 1GB package cost R219 which is about 21 cents per MB.

If this was VC's pathetic attempt at giving us better bundles, seriously, put it back on the drawing board and try again.
TBH, with the rest of the internet market where it is now, anything short of doubling the bundles is a miss-fire.

guys and dolls the big problem here is that too many people give their money to vodacon and then complain.
MTN has lost so many data subscribers - its not funny anymore.they are really under tremendous pressure in the data space.
Thats why they had to do a proper tariff review.
If you use more than 1 gig data a month you should be on adsl.
If you use less than 1gig data per month you should consider iburst, neotel or telkom mobile prepaid.
We can force the goliaths down together.

Has it occurred to you that some of us have no choice?
Has it occurred to you that I cannot get ADSL seeing as I cannot have a Telkom line installed, seeing as I rent the place?
Has it occurred to you that the landlord will not approve any fixed lines installed to this premise?
Has it occurred to you that I am not eligible for WiMax due to the dip in signal where I am?
Has it occurred to you that iBurst cannot get a stable signal to my place for longer than 4 seconds at a time, even with antenna?
Has it occurred to you that Neotel coverage in the entire Nelspruit does not exist?
Has it occurred to you that Telkom Mobile signal in Nelspruit also does not exist?
Has it occurred to you that my only other option is a local product labeled "Aeronet"?
Has it occurred to you that their connections are expensive, contended through the roof, unstable, unreliable, and slower than dialup?
