...as the modems are network locked. This will result in people spending more money then needed. I have been able to unlock a modem but most wont be able to.

yes, show some respect- rather use chick, bird, flossie....Don't call me a doll, please.
South African legislation require that Network operators DO NOT lock their modems, hence that is not a problem. If the modem is locked, take it back and request that they unlock it at their own expense.![]()
guys and dolls the big problem here is that too many people give their money to vodacon and then complain.
MTN has lost so many data subscribers - its not funny anymore.they are really under tremendous pressure in the data space.
Thats why they had to do a proper tariff review.
If you use more than 1 gig data a month you should be on adsl.
If you use less than 1gig data per month you should consider iburst, neotel or telkom mobile prepaid.

Is there any place with exact prices I can see? What will I be paying for the 2gb package and what will I get in return?
Just let me getting something straight.
Vodacom is giving increased cap to only 2GB and lower data-bundle subscribers.
But have decided to simply ignore the subscribers who pay their right arms for the service (3GB and up).
ie: me and quite a few others.
Which bright spark decided this would be a good idea?![]()
PS: Are these increases permanent or only temporary.
I have just read your post, and I still don't know exactly what it is that you are protesting about - I am surprised you have not specifically mentioned a lack of significant price reductions from Vodacom
Perhaps this thread belongs in the Consumerism & Telecoms Liberalisation forum near the top of the list of forums?
When DavidXL's Team has decided what they are protesting against, and manage to communicate that properly, they might also have my support, until then we shall await clarification...
Damn right, it's such a slap in the face for users that need more than 2GB per month. Higher usage should be cheaper than lower, but now, the rand per MB on 3GB is more than the rand per MB on 2GB. WTF???
It's about their 14.4 mbps speed which does not exist.
Who are they fooling ? How many users really achieve this promised speed.DXL - Team
@Iam3G, Granted, but then how many users are achieving 7.2 speeds, or even 3.6 consistently for that matter?
I can say that i am achieving those speeds. CONSISTENTLY.
