our office is going to spend 150 000 rand to connect our office with a high speed internet connection in the city.

We do have hsdpa coverage on the farm but we are moving over to cable becase vodacom is so expensive and we need better latencies (for the new voip system +350 000rand) than vodacom is willing/capable to provide.

Thanks vodacom for a looooong and harrrd shafting of our business, but it is time for us to part ways :p

Dont throw away your 3G router. Use it as fail-over device.

You read the article , and saw what Shameel Joosub said.

VD, can you give us a clue as to when the pricing of Standard Data packages will be dropping? It stated "later in the month of May" and I would be loath to buy another 2.3 GB package today if it's going to be dropping in the next few days.
Thanks

Yes please. Also, I am totally confused by the reduction in price of the Advanced bundles, are they now the same price as the Standard bundles? Do Standard bundles now fall away?

I hope the Standard bundles stay (at much lower rates) as I am using my HSDPA 3.5 Nokia E51 on Win7 to connect here in Langebaan and the best speeds I can attain are about 1.5mbps (mostly it runs slower than that even though it connects 100% of the time on a HSDPA profile.). Therefore 7.2 / 14.4 / 21 speeds are totally useless to me at this stage - unless of course someone can help get better speeds out of this network using the setup I have.
@ Ginggs, I tried to use your MDMA prog to connect with but I think due to the COM port issue on Nokia devices it wont allow me to connect? Can you possibly help me out with a solution?

Anyone?

According to this article, the Broadband Advanced bundles are priced as follows: 500MB = R185, 1GB = R285 and 2GB = R385, but I don't see these bundles on Vodacom's new web site.

Update: Now this article as well.

Well, I just got back last night from the USA, where I bought a new 64GB 3G iPad. I got my vodacom sim card and a pair of side cutters and cut the sim card down to micro sim size. It worked on vodacom first time, in fact I am using it to type this. To get to my point, while I was in Chicago, I bought an unlimited one month data 3G package with AT&T for $ 29.95, and the speed ? I did a speed test and was getting 2.4 Mbps ...........wow unlimited 3G at that speed for that price !!!! I was almost ready to emigrate for that service.

These are the new Advanced Data Bundle prices that will be introduced, indications are that they will be lodged for 1 June 2010. A decision was made to reintroduce the popular sizes mentioned below.

I thought those were the old bundles sizes.

Anyway, I have a month-to-month 2GB Standard Bundle bolted on to a contract SIM, I want to change it to a 2GB Advanced Bundle from 1 June. When should I do this, before the end of this month? What is the simplest way to do this?

You will have to change it before the 1st June
And how do I do this? Do I first add the new bundle and then remove the old one? There's no pro-rata or anything, it will just take effect on June 1?

I logged into the new www.vodacom.co.za, but the Services page is blank.
I logged into www.vodacom4me.co.za, but I only see the following choices for Broadband Advanced:
Advanced My Gig 1.5R 369.00
Advanced My Gig 10R 2199.00
Advanced My Gig 2.5R 469.00
Advanced My Gig 20R 4099.00
Advanced My Gig 3R 799.00
Advanced My Gig 5R 1199.00
Advanced My Meg 175R 129.00
Advanced My Meg 400R 165.00
Advanced My Meg 800R 268.99

doubt it
or they will come up with a similar product but capped @ 3.2GB
epic!

what about uncapped-only products? no initial '3gb', and that we could load gigs above the initial speed too to speed it up temporally.
