Cheaper 3G Prices - Rep?

According to this article, the Broadband Advanced bundles are priced as follows: 500MB = R185, 1GB = R285 and 2GB = R385, but I don't see these bundles on Vodacom's new web site.

These are the new Advanced Data Bundle prices that will be introduced, indications are that they will be lodged for 1 June 2010. A decision was made to reintroduce the popular sizes mentioned below.

Why indications only? :/

It's just over a week away and I have two data accounts : 500MB and 2GB standard and I'd 'love' to get advanced at R185.00 and R385.00 respectivly.

I understand I need to change before 1 June 2010 ...

Hi Ginggs

It will be easier to call the Callcentre to do the migration before the 1st June if you cannot do it on the site.

My Vodacom contract has now officially expired so im FREE!!!!!! :D

I've just called them and was told there is no such thing as a Broadband Advanced 2GB, only at 2.5GB @ R469.

They also told me my May bundle is depleted and I had no carry over from April, so perhaps this problem isn't resolved after all. I asked to have this escalated and was told I need to pay for itemized billing otherwise I will just get told I used all my data.

Pathetic, and the sad thing is we pay huge money for that kind of service.

That 2.5GB Advanced is actually a good deal - the price of 18c per MB both in and out of bundle is cheaper than the 3GB, 5GB, 10GB and 20GB bundles, and therefore if you're using 20 GB buying the 2.5 GB package will cost you R3752 instead of R4099, a saving of R347. The maths must have been done by someone from marketing....

True, but I'm currently on the 2GB Standard at 19c per MB and don't want to pay any more. The 1.5GB Advanced at 25c per MB is a rip-off.

@VD: Will I be able to switch to the 2GB Advanced before the end of this month?

Yes, it's not a good deal for you - if you're rolling over on 2GB why would you want 2.5GB?

It's what I'd go for if I was using a lot of data though.

Guys

Something to ponder about. These are the differences in pricing between the Advanced and Standard Contracts .Note i never mentioned month to month and adhoc bundles.

the only thing i'm pondering about is who in their right mind would pay over R4000 for 20 gigs

is Bandwidth a bit scarce at Vodacom or something?

OK, my question is how does Vodacom justify their prices? and I know its not South Africa but how?

As you may know, running a network as big as Vodacom is not cheap , and i'm not going to go into the symantics of it all. At the end of the day you need to price your product in such away that it does not add to the business being run at a loss.

Will Vodacom run at a loss if they price their bundles at say, R200 for 2GB ?

Yes then they can't sponsor everything that looks like a sport or make big posters to rap around buildings or make 100000 ads or or or or .........
