yet Vodacom doesn't give a crap. Roll on CellC, I am waiting patiently for you to release in the East Rand

Cell c has launched 3G in 3 cities already and it is launching in Cape town on 30th. Still no responce from vodacom or MTN. May be they will only respond with better prices once Cell c launches in joburg.

I'm now on CellC, running the 60Gig Bundle on a 2G network. Same speeds as I previously had so.
They too late with the pricing in my case, I already moved on.

You think we should rally up troops and try get much as possible people to complain on Hellopeter about the pricing etc? And provide a link to this thread within the complaint? Just a thought. :)

I don't really care, I haven't been using Vodacom for like 5 months now...

I'd like to use them in future, but at this moment in time they are just not worth the money - I seriously can't pay R200 per Gig for broadband basic

Ha, don't get your hopes up recieving anything what the title suggest you want. Vodafone in the Netherlands used to have an 'unlimited internet' add-on for both subscription and prepaid users for +/-R100. This came with an FUP that you were allowed to 10-12x the average off all Vodafone users. They didn't say what that was though. But you would sometimes get an SMS to reduce your usage if you gone above 5GB, but most of the time you never heared something from Vodafone, I once downloaded 50gb over 3g and they didn't complain. Granted, it was against the single rule they had, don't use your cellphone as a modem.

However, last month, they decided to put an hard limit of 250mb for prepaid users per 'R100 internetblock (€10)' you bought. That means for prepaid users you now pay +/- R400 (€40) for a gigabyte . For subscription users, R200 gets you 250mb with an 120 minute call+sms+internet bundle. Higher subscriptions get spoiled with 1gb. And as a gift from Vodafone, you also have an OOB-rate all of a sudden.

I still have my 'unlimited' contract for a year and I use around 300-400mb a week on my Samsung Galaxy S. And I thought Vodafone/vodacom was bankrupting me in SA, but now they are actually cheaper!

Anyways, what I am saying is that if the other vodacoms/vodafone are raising their prices, I don't think Vodafone SA/Vodacom is planning to do that in SA soon.

keeping the prices the same would be madness at a time like this, raising them would be complete suicide for their broadband department.

They will lower prices, you'll see.

MTN will lower to compete with CellC, and then vodacom will follow behind MTN's tail, like they always do - stay tuned!

That's what happens every time - isn't there supposed to be competition in a "free" market economy?

They are making their money as it is, and people whine, yet keep paying. And then you get those that are completely oblivious as to how badly they are being ripped off. They only lower prices because they really have to, and at the moment it's not essential to keep them going.

all south africans have cellphones, not all south africans have internet access.. remember how expensive it was to use cellphones for call or sms when it first came out? Same will happen with Cellphone internet.. its going to be the second comming for the fat cat ceo's and investers of Vodacon / MTN etc

Of course, it's imminent right?

These days , whoever owns a cellphone has access to internet , whether it be GPRS or CSD. I dont know of much phones that don't support internet.
