Vodacom, why don't you rather work on better deals instead of always trying to screw the customer?
CellC is providing good deals without hoops to jump through to avoid huge Bill shocks?

With vodacom you get to use the internet with 2 GB Cap with another 2GB only between 12 and 4 in the morning, from 1 May but only till 29 July to sign up for a Topup and contract, for 12 months with an, sorry, only contract, where you get to use....sorry, 24 month, with the first 12 month being R149 p/m and after that R349 per month where the nightowl goes away, sorry, and we meant to say Contract that lasts forever, not 24 month, where you can try to cancel on month 13, where you will pay the remaining amount of your 7.2 mbps modem that has rollover, but will only use your new bundle in the beginning of the new month before depleting your old bundle from the previous month, after which an OOB rate of R1,20 will be charged for each megabyte.

seriously, what is this junk? I fear how the average user feels when signing up to your service, nevermind a geek like me.

There...I have deleted my vague and "kiddingly" threat to you.

Hehe Occie, you flop too easily :p

I was also just kidding with you :D

We all know you aren't associated with the Vodacom directly... sorry If I upset you mate

Perhaps I am losing my stomach for this. Thinks I shall leave this section for the thicker skinned Jannie and VD.

/Retreats to "Cellular Section"

Me too.

Think I'll retreat to the "Whats for supper" thread.

yeah, well, we can't stomache vodacoms prices much either - now you know what us vodacom customers feel like.

But just a few days ago VC was your hero CellC beating company? :p

ps. I don't work for VC or support them in any way. ;)

yeah J0n0 very funny.... I guess I deserve that for actually believing in vodacom and jannies "mystery easter bunny" promising to take our problems away

What a let down

If I take the Vodacom deal, I'll be saving R250 starting next month...every month, with HSDPA coverage everywhere I go (hehe....couldnt help the MTN reference).

What are the alternatives?

I've seen to many "R12000 Bill" Threads to even consider a Vodacom contract for Data, especially with today's 3G Speeds.

I guess the alternatives are ADSL Uncapped from Mweb or the like, and if you can't get ADSL, CellC, and if you can't get CellC, Vodacom.
MTN and 8ta are also out of the question, they are even more expensive than Vodacom.

I guess the contract is nice if you're doing a 600MB iPad update & not realizing you only have 595MB left on your data bundle - and just before you hit the complete download, you get cut off.

Yes, it can be bill-shock, but can also be a blessing in disguise. You decide.

Contract or no contract you will be monitoring your remaining bundle before big downloads - therefore you will know if you have enough.
But on contract, if your Windows/Adobe/Anti-Virus/Steam gets stuck on an update while you're reading web pages/drinking coffee, you end up paying around R43 for every minute it tries to download. (R2500 per hour)

Blessing in disguise? I think not.

I've seen it happen way too many times, and people here will tell you that using 3G with a contract with an OOB rate of R1,20/mb, is just a very bad idea, period.

it's almost in the same league as roaming for God's sake

Damn, so you're saying I will have to keep paying R389 for 2.3GB, till Voda get some devs, or can trick the billing system with night hawk? I'm screwed. *sniff*

The problem with 3G data that happened to many times to me is that you download the 600MB file and at 578MB the line drops, when you reconnect you start all over! Ask me, it happened last week end when I downloaded the new Ipad 4.3.2 update! So 1.2Gb later, the Ipad is updated. Perhaps it is time that we note these issues and take on Vodacom, CellC, 8TA and MTN at the Consumer protection commission.

The problem is not that they want to charge us for extra data used, the problem is when they want the equivalent of a car/house payment for a simple update or two

Why can't vodacom go lower like CellC at least? I mean Cellc is currently a third of the Price with OOB, and MTN is even cheaper
