Cheaper 3G Prices - Rep?

Jannie quick question but it's not exactly data related. :) Just don't want to start a new thread for one quick question.

I've been wondering, with prepaid customers, they have CLIP enabled at no charge. But when on a contract, to have CLIP you pay R 9.50 or something to that amount. I changed my current number from prepaid to topup contract, and instantly the CLIP dropped away.

Why do we have to pay for this? (I know that all providers charge this not only VC, so not pointing fingers. :) )

I could be wrong here...but I would say this:

With prepaid there is no effective way of billing someone for this service on a monthly basis...so it is more than likely worked into the call rates. With contract, due to the fact that we have the ability to charge you for VAS should you elect them, we can activate it for you on request and bill you extra for it as it is not worked into the tarrif financials........or something like that anyway. :-)

Makes perfect sense OC, so I checked the VC site and compared call rates. It seems true. :)

Valid for the first 12 months of a 24 Month Contract. ?

And with Topup that's also a non-issue.

The point is all these people who say they won't take the 2+2 deal from VC because it's a *contract*.

Yet they signed exactly the same contract with Cell C. Except in some cases they've even paid the contract up front. But the 12 month contract is still applicable.

What is it?
Effective from 1 May 2011 to 31 July 2011, you can get a 2GB data bundle every month on a Broadband Standard MyGig 2 Contract, for only R149 per month (valid for the first 12 months of a 24 Month Contract) and another 2GB free each month on Night Owl to use from midnight to 5am.http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/se...cted=7_a_Pro_3_Red_1319&ciFormat=default&ht=t

valid for the first 12 months of a 24 Month Contract- According to VC website. Correct?

The package changed in the last 24 hours. It is not so special anymore, but rather a joke. Vodacom, did your site get hacked or are you just plain nuts?

Contract cancellations after month 13 are allowed without penalties , so you can still have it for 12 months.

Erm ok.

Still why not just make a 12month option....? (I'm asking but we all know why )

EDIT: VodacomData care to comment on this aspect of cancelling after the 13th month....?

They should include an option on the application forms to cancel after 13 months:

"Tick here if you want to cancel after month 13 [ ]"

I can see every Vodacom store getting the same request from customers: "I want to sign up on condition that I will be able to cancel penalty free after 13 months".

Plus, even though there is no penalty to cancel you would still have to pay the remaining cost of the modem. Which is R36x11 = R396.

So that last months bill will be R396+R349= R745

If they honour the 12 month contract with 2GB+2GB for R149 per month on topup I will go for it though.

Also, why is it not available as a Top-up package anymore? I don't want to take the risk of going OOB. This is one of the main reasons why I won't go for this package anymore.

IMO this is a criminal offence in terms of the new Consumer Protection Act (read clauses on bait marketing) !
