Is there any way to view my data usage via their client portal?

Sitting in the exact same boat... 100mb line on TT Connect topping out at 20mb, upload sitting at 40ish... Have had a ticket open for more than a week now, keep asking me for more speed tests directly into ONT with windows PPPoE dial up etc... Still waiting for someone to sort something out...

DWJ, you had any luck getting assistance with this prob???

Im now going on 3 weeks. Still cant get more then 10 meg on my line, international streams are worthless...

Yeah; I've been having the same issue and keep being told that anything between a 1:10 and 1:30 ratio for international connections is normal. I can't get more than 100KB/s on upload, and now my downloads start at ~11MB/s and 3/4 of the way through will crash and stay at 100KB/s as well. No matter how many support tickets I open it is as if "Please plugin a LAN cable" will solve all issues...

Edit: I'm on 100/100
2nd Edit: I do get 100/100 on all local services (mainly the constant requests for to run a speedtest.net test using the CISP Randberg server, which seems like more of an excuse to say: see nothing wrong) but it's not as if that helps anyone or anything...

Sounds like packet loss or line quality issues to me. You won't necessarily see 100/100 to international servers on speedtests (because they don't run long enough, or the route to the server is poor), but on long downloads or uploads you ought to be getting close if the connection to the server is good. (If the other end is, say, a server on a cheap ISP in Australia, you're obviously going to have a bad time with any ISP)

Hey bud, TT Connect came round today and tested the line, they said the line itself looks fine but the media converter may be faulty so they are going to replace it this week with the "new" ones, apparently they don't use the cheap planet ones anynore, will let you know if that fixes my problem.

No idea because if I connect over a VPN it's fine without any issues (just a bit of a speed knock)

Edit: So I can't get anything faster than 300KB/s using standard OpenVPN as of 00h00 but run obfsproxy and a few other things to hide the VPN connection and I'm running at full speed. I've taken a few videos that I'll post tomorrow or the day after once CISP support responds but I would really love to know what on earth is going on... I feel like I'm in China!

I appreciate that, however getting sub 10megs (anytime) on London servers that apparently peers with CI, is kinda rubbish. I know for a fact that on my VOX line i could get way better speeds on a 20 or 50 megs line, i didnt even have a 100 meg line.

What is more frustrating is that CI, just kind of sit there not answering my ticket and saying its with our techs. 3 weeks later we wait.

I'm almost thinking of signing up with VOX at the same time and test the 2 side by side and see what the results show. That's how desperate I am. HAHA.

At least they say your ticket is with the techs. Start of the year (I think we connected to Vumatel/CISP in March/April) I was getting 100/100 on everything that is reasonable (UK, France, NL; not China for instance) then less than 2 months in I couldn't get more than 10Mbit to anything outside of ZA's borders, downloads were still fine at the time. I think I've opened 3 tickets since then (gave up in August) trying to get the issue resolved and I've been hit with the literal kitchen sink of reasons. From "that is normal due to line contention" to the usual "run speedtest on our randberg server and see nothing is wrong" and their hail mary of "plug in a LAN cable and see the magic - all your problems are gone" (not).

Now my line is not even usable and I'm probably going to have to revert to my damn Telkom LTE-A router until this is sorted, and I'm even more terrified given that business closes in a week or two and it is going to be like this for December/January. Last night I was trying to chat to a few friends of mine in the US over Discord and a single message took a good 2 minutes to send.

Here is a video of the issue I'm having, and this was taken plugged directly into the CPE bypassing my Ubiquity Switch, Security Gateway and Access Points:
Code:
https://youtu.be/iAQjlM1q4PA

Does anyone have any idea what-so-ever as to the cause of the issues and how to resolve them? I thought it was an issue with Seacom initially but after a few days it was safe to assume that was not the issue.

Edit 1: I don't really torrent much but I utilize the upload bandwidth for cloud backups; so it is quite a problem for me.

What router are you using ? Is it your own or the one send by coolideas ? If it is your own, does it have an option on the router to select wan port speed 100mbit / 1000mbit ? If so , try force it to 100mbit and look at results.

You can test the same with your pc directly plugged into CPE, force your network card speed to 100mbit and look at results.

The reason I suggest to test this, I had a faulty CPE that gave complete and utter wonky results when I connect to it at 1000mbit. The moment I forced 100mbit the results fixed. So I went and request vumatel to replace my CPE unit and afterwards 1000mbit port speed were resolved.

In case you wonder, this unique problem with the CPE at 1000mbit only affected international speed. I believe the issue comes up with the faulty CPE at 1000mbit when dealing with higher latency thus it did not affect any local test results. It was a head scratcher for me at the time also.

Btw I tested that 1GB file from hetzner in your video on my CISP 200/200 , download speed in opera (not even using multi threaded downloader) got capped at 19MB/s until the end.

It's all Ubiquity stuff, but I did raise the issue of a faulty CPE with them, so let me try what you suggested! I'll let you know shortly :)

Also in-browser downloads are at 20KB/s and stay there if that means anything.

Edit: so forced a 100Mbit Full Duplex connection from my switch and speeds won't go above 500KB/s using the 1GB hetzner test file

But something I also just noticed is that it will only allow me to negotiate 100 full, 100 half, 10 full and 10 half; no longer showing 1000 full/half

Auto-negotiation will spec 1000 full though....

Going to try a direct CPE connection now

Interesting that my Gigabit card shows the same

So forced Forced 100Mbit from my LAN connected directly into the CPE and it's the same story. Downloads started at 8MB/s and at 650MB I'm stuck at 200KB/s

Your results seem extremely strange.

Moving from 1000Mbit to 100Mbit on your router you should either see same results if it is ISP issue. This leads me to think that it is indeed a CPE issue (if you get same wonky results between forcing your lancard to 100Mbit opposed to 1000Mbit to CPE) but if it resolves the issue you might be stuck with a rare occasion of both CPE being wonky and the router being wonky. Would just need to isolate the issue as much as possible to come to conclusion. Based on what you just provided between setting 100Mbit and using 1000Mbit on your router showing vastly different speeds, this alone tells me your issue doesn't lie with CISP at all. What I noticed in your video is that your speed kept going up until it suddenly went in reverse down to nearly nothing which looks alot like one of the hardware involved is having buffer overflow at some point which either clears too slowly or not at all thus leading to the speed going down to a crawl.

When you test from pc directly to CPE, you need to force ethernet card properties to 100Mbit.

Yeah I've edited my above post already with the test results from the CPE. I'm wondering if I wasn't hit by lightning with all the storms...

Edit: Switch is fine, ran a few LAN tests on eth1 (the port I'm using for the CPE connection) and they all detected full gigabit and transfer speeds reflected as such.

So now the question is who do I speak to about getting a CPE replacement and will it cost anything?
