Any tips on getting the pathetic PS4 network to download at respectable speeds?

What it looks like now:

Seems to be capping out at 6Mbps (on a 200Mbps line). I know the PS4 network is slow but I've never seen it this bad!

EDIT: Note, this is over ethernet and using the CoolIdeas DNS server (tried Google DNS but same).

I get max line speed (50mbps). Make sure no other apps are open as the PS will slow your downloads down. Same when in rest mode.

Try a restart perhaps.

Also what works for me, Pause and Start your downloads.

Tried all of that already :(

Will try to restart again.

No, but you get VPNs and VPNs. Which one are you using? The majority out there are total crap, especially the ones with cheap lifetime accounts. I expect your international speed will largely determine what you can expect with a quality VPN like VyprVPN. Do some international speed tests without a VPN active and report back.

Was using Torguard, ExpressVPN and FinchVPN but the issue as you say is international getting 20/5Mbps mostly i did test a few minutes ago see it changed to 148Mbps/6Mbps now without VPN so maybe CI was having some issues with Octotel not too sure..Twitch is flying now but would prefer the upload over down

A quality VPN should at least provide whatever you can achieve at international speeds. You may as well create a support ticket in your CISP portal and see what they say.

I dont know what is going on with Cool Idea's service. But my speeds are pretty abysmal to anything other than speedtest.net and testing from a local server.

My connection speed is a 20/20. When I do a speedtest to a Johannesburg server I get 20/20. If I use my VPN and I do a speed test I get 0.5/3mbps . This is with a VPN connection to multiple servers outside of South Africa, Im getting the same result.

With VPN or without Im struggling to load webpages.

It feels like the connection is getting heavily throttled, especially in the evenings.

Any assistance from Cool Ideas here would be very helpful.

You are not alone same issue my side if i use a VPN everything gets fooked even if its a local vpn from JHB luckily i am not struggling as much as you with normal services Netflix/Youtube etc is quite snappy but anything that does not have a local CDN is iffy at the moment. Whom is your line provider?

My line provider is Vumatel.

But I do believe it's cool ideas that is throttling the crap out of my connection. I do not believe its international throttling or the line provider as I can do a speedtest.net test to the US without VPN and im getting 19/15mbps which is pretty good for an international test. If I connect to a VPN in the same location in the US my speeds are 0.5/3mbps.

Without VPN I can barely load any video streaming that is not Youtube or Netflix. I also struggle to load sites like reddit or gify.

Obviously with a VPN I can barely load anything.

Its extremely frustrating, hopefully someone from CoolIdeas can help here.

We dont throttle any connections, if it is happening in the evenings this is over cable as well?

It would be a fibre provider having congestion more than likely.

Peace of mind while i love stream last thing i want is to get any info leaked i have used FinchVPN,ExpressVPN,Torgaurd all about the same as for congestion not sure if it could be an issue yet as this Fibre build went live a week ago and people are still being spliced on as said local CPT servers mostly give full 200/200

Is there any issue in Wilgeheuwel?

No connectivity Northriding (Cool Ideas 200/200) ... on Fibrehoods (now Vuma Aerial). Called Vuma and they confirmed all is good on their side and can see my ONT. All lights green. Issue must be CISP. What is strange that my two neighbours (also on Cool Ideas) have no issues ... only difference is that I am on 200/200 package.

Come'on Cool Ideas ... it is massively frustrating that you don't have 24/7 support in circumstances like this. @pbcool - are you here?

Ticket logged at CISP - #COOL-20171209-60971

I need connectivity restored ASAP!
