My result on 200/200 Octotel

132.2/13.66 Mbps
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/26949397

I am so over it really Octotel needs to sort this out if its congestion or i am going back to LTE had at least 21MBps upload constantly to UK on 1800Mhz band

I just wonder if I should go to like a 50/50 account instead, if PB Cool at best can give me 25 down. Why pay for the extra if all I get is a router not capable of 100 and speeds which are way below 100.

What do you get on a local test? The guys are busy escalating with Octotel.

Local is 100% i am trying to leave my line idle now hoping it will help them sort it

Thanks so much for getting it escalated for me PBCool :)

Ah forgot Randburg

I think by middle January I will look for a different ISP if my speeds are not sorted. I will give them time until then, especially as people are probably on leave in Dec/early Jan. I think CISP 100/100 is the basic potato account and doesn't get the love 200/200 power users get.

We just need to work with Octotel to get it resolved. It's not something we are limiting obviously.

The accounts are no different from each other as mentioned before. Same IP range same routes same routers. It is the line and not your router. As mentioned do a direct test into the ONT?

Would also like to see a test from the ONT itself. For some reason my pc refuses to dail up from the ONT directly i get error 812 aka PPPoE already connected even if i reboot ont with nothing connected or leave it for 30mins :erm:

Just PM me when you want to try and I'll see from my side.

Major props for PBCool trying to sort me out. Seems will take some digging and hopefully it will sort out Mirai's issue too since his uploads are very very close to mine also on Octotel but Uptime/Down wise i cannot complain at all get great pings and stability for games :D

@PBCool, can you please escalate this again? The ticket has been open since 10-11-2017, so over a month and its still not resolved.

I'm paying for a 100mb line and have not seen more then 30mbps down and 50mbps up for the last month, ticket number is #COOL-20171110-52629. I have provided numerous screenshots of speed tests, dial ups, etc... Please can we push this before the whole world goes on leave.

Yeap sure will get on it.

Just an interesting observation here from me. I stopped working late afternoon, and only got back to the laptop - on wifi - just now. I was frustrated by Deezer not playing music, and even getting to my router was incredibly slow. I pinged the router - got very poor responses all over the show from 1ms to 500ms, and crazy packet loss.

So, I:
- restarted the router, nothing changed
- restarted the laptop out of desperation, nothing changed
- fired up wifi analyzer on the phone, and saw that since I checked last time a lot of networks moved to "my" channel 11
- changed the channel to one that did not have a lot of networks...

Everything back to "normal" - average ping times around 6ms now, zero packet loss. Never had this before.

Problem is even worse if you live in a condensed block of flats back when i was in one couldn't get any free channels so glad that did not have a Fibre connection then..would have been awful so can understand your pain hopefully your device supports 5GHz? much more frequency to use much less congestion

Yeap and the tricky thing is that we have tons of customers blaming the service stating "we never had issues with wireless before". But what most don't understand is that with fibre deployment comes far more bandwidth which requires wireless radios to output far more power to reach those bandwidth levels, which then in turn creates far more noise. Which is why if everyone just cabled their fixed devices like TVs etc this would drop the amount of required wireless radiation in general. Dual band obviously helps but as more people get to dual band the same thing starts to happen :).

I think I am going to find a router with a bigger radio than anybody around me :-P

The problem with cabling my TV is that it is a Samsung "Smart" TV. The "Smart" being really really poor and stupid, and almost always confused as to whether its network is connected. I had to decide to either shoot holes in the TV, or buy a Roku stick - and the stick only does wireless unfortunately.

Telkom LIT works great, and has ethernet port :)
* if you can find stock

@PBCool, I see the international is back on eNetworks in Cape Town. Was there any issues with the new backhaul, or was that pre-emptive change back for the work week?

Yeah the anycast should be fixed next week to work correctly.
Any update on the DNS?
