That is so dope, 110ms to London

Just wish ISPs on that end would also have such awesome routes back to our side. Asked my brothers in Spain and Poland to check latency to my side and both are around 200ms, better route would help a lot with their Plex viewing experience.

@PBCool, did you guys change your routing to the EU/UK? Getting 30ms lower latency to both UK and Germany.

Interesting.

Tracert to Frankfurt. Direct hop from the local presence to London(?).

Code:
Tracing route to 144.76.36.180
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 155.93.250.1
  2 111 ms 111 ms 110 ms uoa-cust.coolideas.co.za [154.0.3.106]
  3 111 ms 111 ms 111 ms v1000.core1.lon3.he.net [216.66.80.169]
  4 118 ms 165 ms 132 ms 100ge14-1.core1.lon2.he.net [184.105.64.237]
  5 121 ms 120 ms 128 ms 100ge6-2.core1.ams1.he.net [72.52.92.214]

  8 129 ms 129 ms 129 ms ex9k1.dc10.fsn1.hetzner.com [213.239.229.50]

Think your device is reporting this incorrectly, currently the lowest latency to London from Cape Town is 140ms, which is what we see from PoP to PoP currently. those latencies would be great :)

Can you get them to do some traces?

Huh, that is weird.

From my Windows machine I get the low pings, on my Mac it shows the normal pings (+30ms higher than on Windows).

Any idea what would cause this?

There is something seriously funky with Windows. Reporting more than 200Mbps and lower pings than possible, I think Windows is trying to make me feel good :D

Turns out my entire computer was running "slow" for some weird reason. My clock was like 8 minutes slow, restarted the PC now time is correct again and pings back to normal.

Quite strange :).

Cool Ideas Fiber ISP - Feedback

Just want to double check, would I be able to connect to CISP with an Ubiquity Edgerouter X and Unify AC Pro? The router has the option to set an eth port as a wan port and supports dhcp on the wan, from my understanding that is all what is required on a Vuma installation.

Yep, That should work fine, as long as it can set a port as a WAN port (or has a WAN port) and allows you to receive Dynamic IP/DHCP over that port, you should be good to go :)

Yes capable of all that, thanks!

I just signed up for cisp with tt connect as the fibre provider. I was previously with Fredd. My speed tests are not good

Any issues you are aware of causing this?

What area of JHB are you in? There was a poster with that same issue a while back im sure PBCool will assist.

Do you mind doing a UK speed test for me?

Oh and how was Fredd?

Fredd.... OMG. I dont understand how an isp like that is in business? Nobody seems to have any understanding of networking. The actual speed was decent and when it worked it was good.. When it didnt work, you looking at a few days downtime and endless phone calls.
Just changing to to cisp pushed their team to the limit :) That includes the guys from TT connect.
That said my experience with cool ideas has been good so far. Just need to iron out the last issues here

Looks almost like a ONT profile issue, As if TTConnect have loaded the wrong profile/rate limit statements for downstream speeds onto the ONT as upload seems fine. Or could be a backhaul issue.

You're testing via Cable right? :p

From what time did you start to experience the issue?

That sucks, im close to you in Bedford, also on CISP and TT and even though my current line is not as bad as yours, CISP tries hard and hopefully should be sorted eventually.

THe fact that FREDD wasnt great scares me as they are TT Connect.

I hope your issue is an easier one then mine.

My international tests... :(

ON a 100/100 line.

What do your local speedtests look like btw?

Looks like the common denominator here is TTConnect
