Hi PBCOOL - nice to see you here - new Cool Ideas user

Have a problem with sending emails - SMTP server
Know I have to use AUTENTICATE server settings, but no luck

I need the settings for a TELKOMSA.net account on THUNDERBIRD client
Your website only list OUTLOOK settings, which differ to THUNDERBIRD

Connection Security
Authentication Method

I have been an avid reader for many years (over a decade now), however, I never created a profile or contributed. It seemed that you could always "leech" information and move on with your merry way. But today I honestly feel that I need to give public thanks to someone who went out of their way to assist.

Recently I decided to join as I had some fibre problems (yes, first world problems - I know) and wanted to get them resolved as soon as possible.

I had 2 issues. One related to my line (I was a Metrofibre (MFN) customer and wanted to port over to cool ideas) and the second related to a second account that wanted to join cool ideas.

I knew that @PBCool seemed to help quite a few people and thought why not give it a shot?

I joined the forum (as a 'Junior Member') and sent PBCool a message, within minutes I had a series of responses. I was truly surprised.

Long story cut short... He managed to assist me with both issues. Both households are now on the coolest netwrok around!

PS. It seems that MFN (Layer 2) are down and I couldn't access the network yesterday. Hoping that it gets resolved before the working day ends!

I would definetly recommend Cool Ideas and PBCool!

Just an update on this, turns out that the supplied router was not configured properly and the authentication pppoe details were not correct.

A quick call got it resolved and up and running now

SADV are supposed to notify us of the line config, we then courier the router. Often they don't, you can pm me your account name and I can have the connect team confirm for you.

Thanks PBCool, I am up and running using using an older router (TP Link MR3420) while waiting delivery of the router.
 
@PBCool, I want to change (swap) the WAN router connected to my Vumatel CPE.

Does Cool Ideas need to change any router MAC address or other settings before I swap WAN routers?

Yeah is an IP release/renew just give the office a call and they can help. 0105932665
 
@PBCool what's up with frogfoot in PTA?

We are all dead in zone 1.2.

Hope it gets resolved soon

Frogfoot: Please note that the fault on the JHB network has been resolved. Everyone back up?
 
Stupid question maybe. If I want to swap a router on Vumatel is it possible for me on my side to use cmd ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew or does it have to be done at CISP side?

Nah the device needs to have the same mac, so you can spoof the existing mac as an alternative or call us to release.
