Is it true that activation can take up to 48 hours after install is completed ? This is on openserve

The up to 48hrs is usually based on the router delivery or back-end configuration , if you just need the account issued we can do so, billing will then initiate as well.

I'd like to give some props and compliments to the CISP staff that got me up and running in 5 minutest today. That's right. 5 minutes.

After my current ISP was frustrating the hell out of me with dropping my vpn for work I decided to get up and running 16 days earlier than planned.

Filled out the application and phoned immediately afterward. They had the application on their side and activate the line. That's it. No mess, no fuss. Just one reboot later and I had my internet.

GGWP no Re CISP. Quality service. All this on a Saturday as well!

Few questions please sir.

How long did installation take from ordering to the actual installation?
Did CISP take care of the entire installation or did you speak to Vuma first?
How much were the setup costs?
Mind doing a speedtest to vodafone London?

Sure.

After trenching was done and civil cert was signed off by VUMA I called to schedule an install. I called on Thursday and they came the following Monday. Install took 15 minutes. Install was done by Nano Fibre which services VUMA clients.

After that was done and dusted it took 5 minutes to actually get connected.

It should be noted that the install done by VUMA is completely separate from CISP. You have to arrange the line install.

Total cost for that is R1710. Payment terms available - 3/6/9 months.

Speedtest as requested. I am on a 50 up and down package.

Thanks the guys will log this with Octotel.

Am still seeing very strange upload speeds ( from +- 18h00 on the 10th April my upload speed jumps around

I noticed something rather strange when doing tcpdump on the interface that my pppoe binds to ...
why would i be seeing packets for service of a neighbour...

Perfect, thank you! 50 up and down but only getting 7 up, isn't that concerning?
The upload on higher latency is dependant on the OS' TCP window scaling ability. Generally android, apple and nix based OS' do this better. It's not a limitation on the network.

Client isolation is managed on the Octotel network side, so depending on their filters is the traffic you may receive. I will check it with them.

On the upload issue what was the resolution from the support side? Just update the ticket that the performance on the line/upload is still fluctuating.

so have signed up with Cool Ideas.
how long does it usually take metro fibre to come and do the installation?

MFN are quite slow, anything from 2 to 4 weeks usually.

Already have the Fibre "box" in the house.

If I signup with Cool Ideas do you then provide the ONT (and obviously the router) or do Metrofibre first bring and ONT and then you ship the router (I actually have a Mikrotik I am currenty using with Openserve fibre, but yes can't use that Fibre cage :/)...

It still takes that amount of time, they need to come and install the ONT and provision it, then we courier router.
