Cool Ideas Fiber ISP - Feedback

Yeah, no... It was a fluke for a minute there. International dead. Graphs on their website affirms that something is up.

Yep! International dead. YouTube working though.. guess I'll just lurk there

I have had my Fibre for about 3 weeks already. This is the first issue I have encountered. Is this something that's going to occur regularly?

Back here too... Just as I was considering going to bed like a normal human being.

This was the first real issue since a SEACOM and WACS issue in January, which basically affected most ISPs.

I wonder what happened but I'm glad it was resolved quickly and won't ruin my weekend :)

Yeah we had a router failure at Teraco, so would have killed off most international an NAP peering for a while. Apologies to all.

Why do you guys not have 24/7 support?

It doesn't make economic sense at the moment, if we have an issue like this once or twice a year which a support desk has no control over, our senior engineers are around and aware of these things as they happen. 24/7.

PBCool any idea if you guys will ever offer 200/200 on Octotel? it's something i would like very much. Currently waiting for our area to be finished trenching as they started 2 weeks ago so will still be awhile but already signed up for a 100/100 package as i heard you guys have better links to the UK and most of my traffic flows that way! but would just feel so much better being able to push my line beyond 100MBps in the future!

It helps with communication though, not just with widespread issues like these but also isolated ones. Most home users are not home during business hours, they're home after hours. And it can be a bit frustrating when you have your connection go down, with nobody to call who can inform you if there's a known issue or not...

I will chat with Octotel and let you know, we have requested this from Vumatel already.

No most definitely, it's a tricky thing though as it's limited to certain access. If we send out comms to every customer it creates more false positives than it does inform most of the time, so you need to keep a balance. Comms is something we are constantly working on to be effective.

100Mbps :p

Just a question, why 200Mbps? What are you using it for? Note that most servers max out way before 100Mbps.

We see a use for the higher throughput for things like PS and XBOX game downloads.

So will Vuma/Fibrehoods be getting higher packages like 200mb and 500mb? What about a 1gb connection? I see Mweb offer a 1gb connection on Vuma. Any chance we will be seeing these types of connections in the near future?
