So will Vuma/Fibrehoods be getting higher packages like 200mb and 500mb? What about a 1gb connection? I see Mweb offer a 1gb connection on Vuma. Any chance we will be seeing these types of connections in the near future?

Apparently the Vumatel aerial supports 1Gbps, it's just the headends that need the upgrade on the PON network. The difficulty is justifying the price of 1Gbps of unlimited capacity doesn't make it affordable. Hence why 200Mbps and 500Mbps makes more sence at this point. Or a burstable 1Gbps service.

I have no problem with that! Do you have any idea how much it would cost and when will this be available on offer?

Not sure as yet because we don't have the line rates as yet from Vumatel. As soon as we do we will publish :)

PBCool you have no idea if you can use the GPON Module on Mikrotik rather then the ONT? i have a lovely RB3011UiAS and it has a nice SPF port that can be used! but so far it seems like the GPON is required? does it just work like a bridge in that case?

It would work in theory but fibre operators use specific ONTs for provisioning troubleshooting and management. So you can't unfortunately.

Nothing from Openserve as yet? Please just email me going forward on paul at cisp.co.za so I can stay on top of this for you.

Brother reset everything and speed seems to be picking up.

**7 minute response. Nice!
Cool resetting shouldn't make a difference, only to wireless performance with a channel change etc.

Quick question.

If u change ur package, does CI have to ask Reflex solutions to change ur config or is this something done CI side?

And after changing the package, how long before it takes effect?

No, not the same thing. I'm asking about the 200/200 or 500/100 packages that was under discussion at Vumatel.

Currently there is nothing available between 100 and 1000MB.

ah right....loool. My bad.
