The packet loss is probably because the timeout on the 2nd app is set at 700ms.

Traceroute would help more, especially using winmtr.

Interesting that DNS routes him to London Google pop instead of JHB one.
Yeah seems to be localised so just narrowing down the cause. The international is strange, I get the feeling DNS has been adjusted on the PC unknowingly.

Hi guys sorry for ONLY replying now.
The DNS is on DHCP
I even reloaded windows from scratch again just to start again
Same issue
Could perhaps be issue localized ?
Will run winMTR when I get home thanks to paul for the awesome support on email
Unbelievable customer support

Waiting on feedback around the older PON headends, will probably need upgrades to facilitate the new capacity.

Any feedback if Octotel want to play ball with higher speeds? They finally seem to be done trenching in my area so now just have to wait for them to test and go live!

Still waiting, will let you know as soon as we do. Same as with Vumatel.

My Fibre died in Eversdal an hour ago.

Blue light flashing slow. FX and LAN1 going crazy fast. Is this a broken CPE?

Having second thoughts about going forward with my Cool Ideas order. It really doesn't exude confidence in customer service when you placed an order more than a month ago and not a single human has followed up since.

I emailed support on Friday evening requesting feedback so I'll see what happens. Both Vox and Web Africa almost forced themselves on me but WA has a ridiculous installation fee and Vox doesn't have 100/100 packages yet (although the said they're working on it).

PM me your account details and I'll see what's happening with your order.

Exactly the same. I only ever got answers here with PB Cool but never one answer to my queries and emails.

It’s the same with all the ISPs I’ve contacted since last year though, when one answers they play the blame game with the fiber provider so I’ve really given up and went for Telkom LTE and Cell 200G as back up which is enough for my needs.

Not to point fingers but that is what causes the lack of feedback usually, Openserve are the worst in this process. But we are constantly trying to work on this processes to assist this, but when you rely on 16+ networks each with their own different processes and contacts this is quite a challenge.

Cool Ideas Fiber ISP - Feedback

Actually they’ve been shining stars compared to Fibrehoods.

They are as inefficient as Fibrehoods has been, but at least they haven’t repeatedly lied to the end users of my area (which is what Fibrehoods did to try to get people on their network since Openserve was ahead in terms of installation).

The industry really needs to streamline its processes and mostly put deadlines on customers orders because since last year, it truly became a nightmare for consumers and it boils down to luck.

I was only hearing and did experience swift and efficient processes and installations about 2 years ago (with Vumatel and yourselves) but since 2016 I increasingly hear horror stories (for both customer service and installations). Unfortunately, I have moved and am now in the bad luck batch and probably will move to another place before even getting fiber even though the complex is live...

and this right here is the problem. It was the same experience for me... CISP were very good but Vuma, FH, Britelink and Reflex Solutions were the problem. And they dont talk to each other...

Reflex i think were the worst. Even the techs dont have a direct line to call them, they have to rely on a whatsapp group to ask for ONTs to be discovered and have the config sent.

I got Britelink and DAC for the installation, they ended up coming 3 times (in addition of 4 no show) to install the ONT and splice the fiber, all telling me that it will work by tomorrow every single time.

2 weeks later, Fibrehoods finally admitted that the fiber was simply not live (they poached customers who already had applications with Openserve by distributing leaflets stating that they were live and cheaper) and simply went to give back the ONT at Fibrehoods' offices and reapplied to Openserve.

6 months later, Fibrehoods is still not live and no one has a discovered ONT in the building, and Openserve being Openserve, we just don't know (their map says they're live but they haven't connected anybody).

At that stage, I wished I never applied for fibre and since then got LTE contracts so even if it Openserve becomes live tomorrow, I would have to terminate the LTE contracts first.

How to turn customers away 101.
