Well I am getting like 1% of line speed, 2mbps on a 200mbps fibre on Vumatel... so frustrating that every time it happens in the evening when I try to stream/watch a movie and I start questioning whether I should get Dstv back at least it was running most of the time and not like Cool Ideas ping/pong network:)

I think it is more infrastructure related, I have had issues with a CW line in the area at the same time as my Cisp line is acting up.

How do you know its Cool Ideas and not Vumatel in your area?

I hear you, lets blame Vumatel than... at the end of the day I complain to the vendor/supplier that I pay monthly premium to, in this case its the ISP ( Cool ideas ), hence my complaint is to them. And if I complain to Vumatel anyway they will refer me back to Cool Ideas by default, and how do you know that its Vumatel but not Cool ideas problem?

Oh btw I responded to Zodiak who also complained about slow speeds this evening and he is on another infrastructure i.e Evotel. :)

I can for one say i haven't had any speed issues with any protocol. The infrastructure from Vuma seems to be under strain due to them expanding too quickly. im with MFN and i always get my speed although where i stay we lucky to have 50 houses on my link at max of which 90% use it to just do some internet banking etc. Do a tracert and see where you problem lies. I know dainfern is messed up with too many people there. CISP doesn't seem to have issues, but yes they should followup and push the providers to upgrade as it degrades their name indirectly

Here is an example of mine

1 1 ms 2 ms <1 ms 192.168.5.1
2 4 ms 3 ms 3 ms 154.0.0.120
3 4 ms 3 ms 3 ms 154.0.4.177
4 4 ms 4 ms 4 ms 154.0.3.21
5 4 ms 4 ms 3 ms 154.0.1.137
6 7 ms 6 ms 6 ms 154.0.3.226
7 5 ms 4 ms 4 ms 154.0.13.95

With my USG logs i have a failover connection and i do see a drop in connection there but barely notice as i go over to my failover but when i have a failover its max 1 minute. Will show you those below

I mainly asked because you blame CISP, but fair enough I dont know if it is CISP or Vumatel in your case. What I do however know, is that everytime I download something I an surprised at the great results I get. Especially now, its a far more pleasant experience after CISP fixed the CloudFlare routing for CTN.

There seems to be a DNS server issue, delays in loading websites and pictures on websites, random errors but speetest and video playback ok, something isn't lekker.

Can you check if you can access ubnt.com? I can access it if i use a VPN to IS office network. No amount of DNS changes on my usg lets me access it...

I just completed the sign-up with CI via the Vumatel shop portal. In less than 2 minutes I received an email confirmation and I was active and browsing the interwebs....

But - strange - I did not complete any info with CI, so how do they know my details, specifically account info to debit? Did I miss something?

Change your MTU/MsS to 1436 then it will load On WaN 1 then for DNS I recommend you use 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 or the google one as the 3rd and 4th

In Cape Town the CloudFlare DNS is epic on CISP.
The CISP DNS servers use Akamai servers in JHB.
The CloudFlare DNS servers use Akamai servers in CPT on Mweb's network, which is blazing fast when browsing websites using Akamai or CloudFlare.

Cloud so far with all the tests is the quickest except for local ones but on the dot com cloud wins by far vs local. The other great dns I use is just the Adblock dns which has the benefit of blocking ads on everything from mobile to any user or guest on the network.

Damn. where did you get this info. worked like a charm. Thank you, weird as it worked fine 3 days ago...

Fishing.. it's a pleasure yeah the USG is a tricky one with the ONT/CPE if you disable the MSS then it still gives me issues but that MTU/MSS should have everything working.

Next thing is you must set up a dynamic dns with afraid and then you sorted in terms of looking at stuff within your network

Is the new price announcement of CISP permanent or just a few months?
