If the DDoS crap were out of the picture I'd still be happily with CW, on the whole. Was with them on Vumatel for > 2 years with almost no issues, and with them on ADSL for quite a long time before that. That being said, I can't fault CI at all so far.

I had exactly the same experience. I never had issues with them for just over 2 years, but last few months were just horrible, hence the switch to CISP last night :)

Hard to say. Comparing outside of the DDoS periods...
CW had lower D3 latency (I saw as low as 170ms). CI seems to have higher single-stream speeds (ie, speedtest.net). Support experience on CI is fantastic. CW used to be pretty good as well, all fallen apart lately. Streaming on both is great. Steam/torrents I haven't used CI yet, so can't compare, but based on speedtest I expect the results to be the same - full line speed.

What is your current latency to D3?

That's a pretty slow upload speed for 200Mbps up. Is that normal?
Upload is based on the OS scaling it's TCP window, so in this case it isn't scaling quick enough to get the throughput. Linux and Apple devices do this better than Windows devices.

Ahh! That makes more sense. Mac user here ...

D3 as in Diablo 3? Right

There is only one D3 ;)

Yup, Diablo 3.

I'm tracking packet loss to eu.battle.net via smokeping, there does appear to be a little bit at times. I know it's not the game server, but it could be indicative of an issue.

Thanks, if you could run an MTR it would give us a better idea, to our offices this is what it looks like:

So could be Vumatel adding some overhead, let me know what the MTR looks like.

I'll surely do so. Note however that D3 latency calculation is not just pings - it's actually a rolling average measurement of how long it takes your game data to be sent to the server and acked back - so even one packet dropped every couple of seconds could have a pretty detrimental effect - and it's full sized packets not 32 bytes :)

I doubt it's Vuma adding latency, I've been with them for > 2 years now. The one possible cause could be the router/switch between your network and my vuma vlan - on CW back in the beginning, that device was dropping packets. You didn't notice it at all on local speedtests because of the really low latency and fast retransmit times, but on international transfers it was problematic. I don't think that's an issue here though given my london speedtest.

No sure, but considering all protocols are treated with the same preference on our network ICMP is a decent way to meter network latency and loss.

We always factor in everything between points so the approach is to never rule out any portion of a network, our office is linked to our core network which doesn't include Vumatels last mile.

PBCool, I would to know how much of your work time you spend solving issues on the forum, or off time when you are at home?

Do you feel the forum has helped you solve small issues that would never have come up in support or else where.

Yeah the feedback is invaluable because we have no visibility into so many things with partner networks, and the fact that it gets heard by someone that can actually action a change and resolve even smaller things for customers, I think is what makes a large difference with us, it started on Facebook in Parkhurst.

It does often take up a lot of my time but it's worth it.

Thank you.

Thanks for putting time a side for the customers as well.:)
