Hi :)

I want to know if you can help please, cancelled my fibre line with Vumatel backbone Afrihost ISP end of the month. I want to move over to cool ideas, but for 18 days been struggling back and forward with emails.

can you please explain the process, do i need to use a cool ideas router? if not, can i just reset my router and then log in to a website with my username/password?

currently my line is still showing that im connected with afrihost when i do a tracert to google, or when i speedtest it shows afrihost is my supplier even though they terminated my account and confirmed this on email.

Please note, i have not moved house nothing else has changed. i only need the back end to be configured to join your awesome network.

So Afrihost need to remove their service before you can select one of ours, so you need to please ask them to remove it. From there you will login to the vumatel portal at https://shop.vumatel.co.za and browse and order our service. You can use any router you like. Have you completed our application form?

Hi, where are you seeing the loss and to where? Have you run an MTR as yet?

If I do a constant ping to google I can see packets getting dropped, also in different Teamspeak servers I can see packet loss, any tools I can use to give you some info?

Yes it's called winmtr if you're using Windows, and enter the destination and run it, it should give you an indication where the loss is happening. I presume your using a cable and not wireless when doing so?

Hi PBCool,

I placed an order for 10/10 on Frogfoot's portal but have since encountered some questions that I hope you can help with.

1. The setup fee showed R0 ie. free on Frogfoot's portal which I thought was a special deal if ordered via FF but your site lists a connection fee of R700. When I queried this with your customer service after my order confirmation email from FF, they said I still have to pay the R700. I find this misleading :( This was a week ago and the package on Frogfoot's portal still shows R0 setup fee- see:
ff ci.PNG

Any chance you can waive it, please?

2. What router is the free one? Does it becomes ours after some period eg. 6 months?

3. I understand that an ONT and a splice box get installed in the house. What are the dimensions of each please so that I can pick the right location for them?

4. Does your installation allow for the router (the free one or our own if we choose that) to be installed/located in a different room from the ONT ie. will you lay/run the LAN cable between the two?

Thanks!

1) Ill have a look for you on the installation fee, I cant promise it will be waived.
2) TPLink WR840N, it belongs to CISP but is yours to use as long as you have a service with us.
3) Not sure they sometimes change the model, but usually it's around 15-20cm x 10cm or so.
4) You can put it anywhere you like we don't run network cables unfortunately.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply!

I've already got a WR840N so I'll be using my own then (hopefully that helps with the connection fee situation) :)

Who does the actual install into the house - a Frogfoot contractor presumably (vs. CISP)?

We always absorb R1000, which we are doing already in this circumstance :)

Yeap Frogfoot does the line installation.

Just a quick post to say how impressed I am with CISP and Vumatel. The vumatel techs came yesterday and my CPE was installed within an hour, after that a quick call to CISP to find out about one or two things and then quickly filled in the application form alongside Vuma's online registration and boom internet up and running within 20-30 minutes.

The CISP and Vuma combination is running like a well oiled machine and I would recommend it to anyone not sure about which ISP + Network provider to choose from.

Hopefully these two companies will continue working hard to keep this type of service levels high. Super impressed.

Can agree with this, super impressed with both Vuma and CISP on their service delivery and turn around times.

For the first time in a month. No high latency during the night. What changed?
