@PBCool

Anything wonky with the network? 100mb crawling on all fronts. Normal browsing and downloads are slow.

Nope no issues, the console CDNs are pretty unreliable if you read up about them it's a global thing. Simple thing is always speedtest with cable to make sure the line is working 100% then you can check our network graph at https://www.cisp.co.za/network/ and if the graph isn't consistent there is an issue.

I recently signed up for your services but there seems to be a lack of responses from your connect team.
Its been a week (from last thursday 16/03) and no response. Ive tried a follow up email this morning and once again no response.

Hi there, very strange please drop me a mail directly on paul at cisp.co.za to investigate. One of our connect team has been ill for a week so worried this has slipped through.
 
Any issues last night (26 March 2017)? Had only around 30% speed of local and less than 1mb/s to international (US/EU)

No issues on our side, over cable I presume? Total network traffic as well as fibrehoods interface were all normal throughout.

For interest sake, what would be the acceptable norm for upload/download/ping internationally?

London, US East Coast, US West Coast? I understand download speeds may very depending on where the download is located and what their bandwidth is like. But, what should I be getting for say, a Steam download?

This is for 100/50 package.

Steam uses Akamai CDN so pretty much all the content is local (we have one of their clusters on-net), latency to UK is about 160ms via WACS and 170ms via SAT3. The US it varies quite a bit but generally anything from 220ms on the East Coast to around 350ms on the West Coast.

Downloads will be anything up to your maximum line speed anywhere, but the higher the latency the lower the throughput as a rule of thumb.

Yeah you can always plug straight into the ONT and dial the PPPoE to bypass the router.

Server has to support multithreaded downloads. The TCP scaling window might make it so speed tests won't scale to max speed in the time of the speed test, especially at higher latencies. Forum thread somewhere, it's one of the major complaints on fiber as its a higher speed which makes it noticeable compared to DSL.

Yeap multi-threaded downloads get by the TCP scaling issue, even though most OS' support dynamic scaling, and do so pretty well.

Torrents are dependent on the torrent and the seeders, I've noticed on average around 1MBps per torrent and the really seeded torrents will max your circuit speed.
 
@PBCool any reason my line tops out at 97mbps on 100mb line? Pretty sure it can't be "distance from exchange", thoughts?

Is TCP overhead in most cases.
