I see your ticket was updated at 12:07 today after you messaged me, the line was upgraded and now so is your account so please reconnect and test.
You applied with us, so log the ticket with us. Usually once the line is ready we will get a notice from SADV. We then issue your username and password. But drop a mail to [email protected] if you need any info or to follow upHi @PBCool,
I left the SA Digital Villages Fibre installation guy at my place this morning to do the install (apparently there was an issue with the complex fibre connection since I'm the first person they've tried to connect but he said they have teams what would sort it out today, I'm assuming they did).
Got home earlier and found the Calix 813G CPE in a box next to the ONT. Plugged everything in and all CPE lights except the service light is on.
I've now connected it to the WAN port of my Asus AC52U Router and all seems good (CPE is on 192.168.1.1 & ASUS Router uses 192.168.0.1), I just obviously am not connected yet...
My question is, since our fibre is with SA Digital Villages do I now need to log a ticket to get a username and password then set up my router to use PPPoE?
I'm not sure what happens next etc.
Thanks!
P.S. Can't WAIT to see this thing go live and cancel my ADSL... been waiting years for this day.

What does an MTR look like?@PBCool , sorry, don't know what happened but pings have improved to that specific server, 10-20ms.

The problem isn’t with them you probably got congestion it’s the biggest issue of late. I for one have no issues whatsoever and my mate with the same line at a different location has issues but he’s in a stupid built up area, no matter the ISP he’s changed 3 times@PBCool your guys service has been slowly degrading over time. I am getting quite frustrated with the service. I havent been able to get full speed on my line 100/50 for a while now. I am going to start looking elsewhere if the consistency of my throughput does not start picking up
Can you give me your ticket number so I can investigate?@PBCool your guys service has been slowly degrading over time. I am getting quite frustrated with the service. Yeap exactly correct.Apologies if this is a common question, I searched but didn't find a definitive answer.
In my new place I have a Metrofibre ONT. I have no idea if it's ever been used.
I want to sign up with Cool Ideas. Am I right in saying I can sign up on cisp.co.za, and cool ideas will make sure:
1) The line works
2) the line is activated
3) ensure I have whatever metrofibre router I need, is given to me (the calix one)
4) I don't have to talk to metrofibre, pay them anything, I work entirely through cool ideas?
Thanks,
Hi, @PBCool I'm also seeing slower and slower speeds. Currently limited to International speeds. Speedtests to London and such are usually < 10 meg on a 100 meg line, however locally they are at 95+. Can't even watch a twitch stream at 360p. Ticket number is #COOL-20180814-134606@PBCool your guys service has been slowly degrading over time. I am getting quite frustrated with the service.
