Vumatel installed my line today, CPE box showing all the right lights, went into the shop page as directed ordered Cool Ideas and as they haven't updated their website. (only gets updated once a week on a Thursday) I cant activate Cool Ideas as an ISP.

I spent 35 mins on hold to speak to a Cool Ideas rep. Explained the error I received to the agent, got told to hold for a team lead. Waited and waited eventually the agent got back on the line and asked if they could contact me once the team lead was finished on his call. That was 2 hours ago....

This is really insane that an ISP has to rely on a web page update to show an area is live....

@PBCool
I got your PM, Vumatel changed the order process on Monday with a new layer, so there are some complications coming up from it. Will you PM me your account details and I will follow up.

@PBCool - Is something up with international speeds ? I expect more on a 100/50 link (Openserve)

It varies between this and 1.5MB/s atm. Also Speedtest to international servers fluctuates between 30 and 60 Mbps and sometimes i am lucky to get 80 ish. Local seems OK. I'm in PE. Yesterday got 90+ most of the day/night

Windows Update / Microsoft servers always seems slow to me in South Africa no matter if I use my 40Mbps fibre or Rain or Vodacom or TENET . Something weird with MS CDN providers...

MS uses a combination of Akamai, their local peers and other CDNs. Performance is usually good but can often be from a server in the UK/US

I think something died but fixed it self in the past few minutes.
Was seeing 400ms+ in cape town.

I saw the exact same thing - everything was just dead...
