Hi pbcool no connectivity at 26 Esmeralda Crescent t
Robindale got hold of vumatel fiber is up and running but can’t ping cool ideas or anything else ?
Ps I can see I have no IP address on my router is your dhcp down ?
DHCP is run by Vumatel, have you spoken to our support?

I've been with Cool Ideas for around 2 months now and I want to commend and recommend Cool Ideas as a seriously awesome ISP. I've not had a single issue with international bandwidth since joining, line speeds are consistently what they are they are supposed to be.

Well done guys! Really happy I joined CI!
Thanks for the great feedback :)

Have MetroFibre given a reason for why the connection kept dropping?
No RFO as yet will realistically only get something from them tomorrow, is the service still dropping for you?

Hi

I'm on Openserve 100/50 . For the last couple of days I've managed only about 50 -70 % of my full line speed to international locations, and depending on the speedtest server I choose - as low as 15-20%.

Local ( to CTN for example ) I get full speed no problem almost all the time - so no issues there.

@PBCool - any particular reasons for sub optimal international speeds ? I know i have had full speed ( to London and Amsterdam for example ) on a few occasions, so what do you think this can be ?. I signed up with you guys with the understanding that on "most" days i would get my full line speed (90+ % ) - that's what you guys pride yourself in no ?

So what's going on - I'd hate to pay 1.5K on a product that is not performing as it should. I have not logged a ticket yet, because I thought I'd first come check here in case there is a reason for this before logging it.

Please advise.

No reason not to get line speed really, are the results time dependant?

It would seem to be slower after hours i think... if I'm home during the day, it would almost always be "better"... but again it's very random. Some evenings it looks fine.

I'd put my money on that it's Openserve rather than CISP

That's what i thought, but surely they just sell the line, and have no influence on the speed.. or do/can they slow speeds down? I thought that was the job of the isp.. and in the case of Cool Ideas, they don't slow us down..?

Depends - there can still be exchange contention issues (openserve problem). With openserve it's pretty common regardless of last mile.

Openserve fibre is only last mile instead of copper. Still goes through Telkoms/Openserve exchanges.

So if the exchange is busy/full you'll see a slow down in speeds

Yeah its terrible, to think that Openserv still has the same problem on FTTH that they had with copper. Really do not miss their network the least.

Connecting is down again. Please can you find out what the issue and if it will be resolved?

also having the line drops i think, in Northriding/Noordhang. but it doesn't stay down. goes down and comes back up. I keep on getting new IP addresses which indicates this? Saw my router go orange and after a few seconds went green again. this was Saturday night between 10-11pm. but new IP happens a few times during the week.
