@Looney - Try to download this and tell me what speed it comes down at. Then we will try it again later tonight.

http://30.download.real-debrid.com/speedtest/test.rar

This has become a mission for me and I want to find out what the issue is here....

Also - if anyone knows of a buddy out there that has fibre - but not with CISP - give them that link and ask them to report the download speed. Give as much detail as you can i.e

Mine is listed below :

Time: 20:07
Speed Achieved after 2 min: 949KB/s
Test Device: Lenovo Laptop
Wifi/Ethernet: Wireless AC @ 600Mbp/s
ISP: CISP
FLP: Openserve
Package:100/50

My results:

Time: 20:57
Speed Achieved after 2 min: 6-12 MB/s
Test Device:
Win10 PC with IDM (8 threads)
Wifi/Ethernet: Ethernet, gigabit
ISP: CISP
FLP: Vuma trenched
Package:100/100

Looks like a possible fibre break between Teraco CPT and JHB. Just got confirmation from my team. Our ISP network is also being affected.

Unfortunately this is not on Cool Idea's side. Other ISPs are also being affected by this. JHB to CPT is most likely running on a backup link at this time.

I can't reach any of our core routers in JHB via our core Teraco route. :crying:

Yeah something is off tonight .It says 1 hour for a 9gb update on a 200Mbps openserve line (not to mention twitch buffering like crazy )

@image132 Are you running merlin and if so is your wtfast working after the latest beta files ?

Nope. I never flashed my router to merlin and since its pretty old it never came with wtfast. Sorry bud.

This is actually the first night this week twitch has worked without issue for me. Wonder if its related to everyone else's internet being broken.

Okay, what I can gather for those with twitch issues. Well, i have no issues and I'm on a 100Mbps MFN line and this is @1080 Source no matter the time of the day. Not Alternative player nothing, i stream all sorts of stuff from PUBG to Dota and some CSGO. My area is a rather quiet place so older people don't seem to use up the network too much here maybe hence less congestion. But besides that

If you do a tracert to live.twitch.tv and it points to Fra being France then you most likely using the CISP DNS with is 154.0.1.1
If you continue to have issues with it pointing to France, change your DNS to googles 8.8.8.8 or CloudFlare 1.1.1.1 and then it should route you to Rio for twitch on the tracert, give either one a try and see how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestion with regards to the DNS.

I'll try it out and report back.

Here are my France Results using the CISP DNS
1542142359504.png

Then with the Google DNS 8.8.8.8
1542142419137.png

What the average stream shows 1542142606608.png

Plus this is all on Windows 10 not Linux

I've set mine to 1.1.1.1 for the time being, still being routed via live-fra.twitch.tv but browsing does seem a tad snappier and currently streaming Twitch without the Alternate player plugin, 1080p like a boss. Will try it out again tomorrow throughout the day and tomorrow evening. Will test the Google DNS servers too and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestions, will be sure to post my findings here :)

EDIT: My Twitch stats

EDIT 2: Running two 1080p streams now without issues. Hope this lasts

I too can now steam 4K RD no problem... I tried a few... but this will only last until peak... so I think i have come to the conclusion that it's definitely contention or congestion related...must be.

Only thing now is... what to do about it (if anything)

Thanks, this is what I'm getting. What would the 192.168.x.x hops be?
View attachment 578378
That would be the IPC links.
Either you have packet loss on your line, or 1 of the IPC links. Definitely want to forward that MTR to support. 1st hop (your router) looks perfect, so definitely something CISP needs to investigate for you.
