From what I've seen and read our fiber internet is probably on par or better than America's is

This is false. Last mile has improved greatly for America in the time it took us to get to their 100Mb standard. We will always lag behind.

So, i'm quite late to the party, don't have any tests with me, but can give a bit of side information.

Heavy CSGO player here and also avid twitch viewer.
Short and sweet - The amount of Packet loss I have on CSGO since I've joined Cool Ideas is actually insane. Thought it was just me, asked around, my buddies in Joburg also have packet loss in CSGO, but only with Cool Ideas. When I asked for an investigation by CISP, I was told to get the valve server IP's... yikes. I'm sure they are just laying around, yeah?
Twitch - only way I can watch with no issue is when using the twitch5 chrome extension.

Openserve 100/50 line.

@Henrico101 Try this:

net_maxroutable 1000

default is 1200

I think this is a little naive. Sure having fiber and now finally world class line speeds is great and a MASSIVE (I can't emphasize this enough) step in the right direction, the internet and its services aren't as simple as "I have a faster line therefore everything should be perfect."

Here have a look at this:
overwatch_league_cities.jpg

This is the server distribution around the world for Overwatch league. Notice something? Africa is one of about 12 locations around the world who doesn't have a server. Yes I understand Overwatch is just a game but in the time I've been around the internet this is pretty par for the course of where international companies put servers. Actually its probably more generous than what most companies would do. We (Africa) just don't register on their radars. Amazon web services is another one that comes to mind.

The issues of not having local servers can be immense. Usually games, and I'd make an educated guess and say applications too, are built to be used at 90ms and less. We get 140 at absolute best, thats still well outside that range. Just think about what happens to one packet if gets lost at 140ms compared to what happens if you were using it at 20ms.

From what I've seen and read our fiber internet is probably on par or better than America's is, however they have the luxury of having every server and online service being BUILT for them.

Ugh I'm not saying it can't be done and it frustrates me that I can't always watch twitch but I do at least understand SOME of the challenges of making an international service like twitch work correctly, there are lots of moving parts some of which out of CISP's hands.

We are talking about completely different things ( and needs ) here. You guys are interested in twitch - fair enough - but i couldn't give a monkey's about twitch - all i care about is streaming quality on RD and in general, This is what i use my internet for mainly.

All your points are valid with regards to gaming servers and such - but my point is - some CISP customers ( who all live somewhere in SA i believe ) have much better speeds to the service i care about ( Real Debrid in France ), when i ( and some others ) don't. So what's the difference between us - it's either location...or FLP, and to a lesser extent the package we are on, but whichever is it, one of them is having an influence on our speeds to RD's service in France.

The intention ( at least mine ) is not to put people off CISP - definitely not - I was one of those guys that couldn't WAIT to get signed up with them. I was so sick and tired of my LTE with Telkom.

I just feel so disappointed having such great expectations from the start, and now feeling let down by what i get for my money - especially because we pay SO MUCH for these products. I'm not unthankful ( on the contrary ). I know very few people have access to fibre in SA, but maaaaaaan...come on !!! 100Mbps or 200Mps - we should NOT be struggling like this... no matter who's to blame for the issues...

Only thing i guess is if the issues lie at the source - but i think it's been proven that in the case of RD - some guys have great speed, while others struggle...

Proven not to be by using phone.

I see a lot of RD talk lately... is that the latest hot thing? You guys pay for premium subscription I'm guessing... worth it when it works?

Have you ever tried dealing with an African Government?

My experience of real debrid is as follows.
They're essentially selling an illegal service - they seem to provide proxy access to premium services on filehosts like rapidgator etc. IE - they pay for a premium account there, and then use it to allow you and all their other customers to download that file at high speed. Pretty sure this is contrary to the T&C of the file host.
My dealings with their support teams bear this out - they are insufferably arrogant and do not take ownership or accountability for any issues at all. It's always your ISP or a crap carrier or packetloss or whatever.
I've stopped supporting them completely.

With everyone talking about Twitch and RD, I'm curious to know how the torrenting experience has been the past few days?

Ignoring that, I'm pretty sure the pittance of an income we provide to these companies is not worth the investment of setting up servers combined with the fact that our internet infrastructure up until a couple of years ago probably wasn't good enough either. Hell there was a trend a little while ago of games outright BANNING our IP address ranges.

But there is good news. Amazon is building a cluster in Cape Town as we speak so perhaps in a year's time the twitch issues will be gone and we can start getting more and more local servers for services and games.

I agree, RD support is total rubbish. I hate their arrogance. However, they provide me with the means to stream high quality movies/series. Even though I hate supporting them, I will continue to do so because it benefits me. The RD issues have proven to be CISP. CISP fixed it, broke it, fixed it and broke it again. Now it remains broke.

I am getting a download speed on torrents of 2.4mbps on a 20/2 meg line.
Am I wrong in saying I should at least get 4mbps download speed on a 20mb line ??
