Openserve performance really in the toilet tonight. Switching between CISP and Vox didn't make difference. Something is up with OS' network I believe.

I just tested Twitch now - 1080p/60 Source - no issues - smooth. Thats while having a 1080p youtube video going in the background too. I've been solid all night.

Grrr... ek gaan gou weer toets en kyk of ek dieselfde kry.

Nope, no such luck for me. Fsck, this is really getting annoying now. It's so inconsistent, one evening its perfect, another utter crap. Time to open up a ticket, this needs some thorough investigation.

EDIT: Now its running perfectly...mmm..10:30pm why am I not surprised, lol.

Weird can you run an MTR as part of your ticket?

@PBCool I called support and they said they have logged it with openserve. I loaded my backup afrihost account and no high latency issues. So yeah that's that looks like a problem on the openserve router that peers with you guys

This isn't new.. Last year around this time OS had the same issue. Fix came in jan/feb, when they scaled the exchange's capacity. Only last mile changes not the competency of the company as a whole. This is why you don't choose OS over any other fibre provider.

Well, if its the only provider available to you, then you really don't have any other option. Thanks, guess we'll be playing the waiting game then. Everything else is perfect though.

So as per my previous post it seems like this is a problem on the node that openserve uses to peer with CISP. As mentioned when I load an afrihost data account i have zero issues ping is fine... Latency is fine etc

What I've said is exchange/geolocation related. You could be lucky enough to have another issue, and not this one. Just know exchange capacity issues will land, and OS only fixes these postmortem.

Exactly this is what happens when Openserve builds a Fibre network on top of the the existing telkom DSL network. But I am hoping the upgrade exchange capacity before that day comes. One would think with the Dawn of Fibre all our connectivity issues will go away. Strangely since moving away from VDSL to openserve Fibre on Cool Ideas I have had more issues in the last 2 months than I had over the last 2 years on my 20Mb VDSL. Really frustrates me

So as per graph below, around 11pm I switched to Afrihost and Boom Latency back to normal @PBCool

Oh yeah... Sorry we can't fix your issue we are in a freeze period... Please have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We will return end of January

Also had no issues when switching over to an Axxess account last night, at least I know there's a backup when required. Will ride this out with CISP for a little while longer as I'm not keen on ISP hopping.
