Just received my PPPoE details - doesn't want to connect though. My ADSL router supports fibre through its WAN port - don't know if I'm missing a setting or anything. Under My Products & Services in the CISP control panel it shows two items: The fibre line is pending, the FTTH account is active. Does anybody know why the fibre line portion is pending? They installed the ONT this morning and it has been provisioned.

Mine said pending for about a day, and then it changed to ACTIVE

Have you tried a test account as yet? If it doesnt work then the layer2 is still not complete from FF side, have you spoken to connect again today?

I have, but wasn't able to get anywhere.

And it's the same old tired story, "We're waiting for Frogfoot to send confirmation."
And my response is the same old tired response, "You've been saying that since last week, what has anyone actually done about it?"

So I called Frogfoot: the system is apparently confused - there was a previous order for Vox as the ISP (which was duly cancelled on the 31 November) and Frogfoot doesn't seem to know who is the correct ISP is :sigh:

My Cool Ideas services are also nary to be found in the CISP control panel. I RICAd myself in the vague hope that this would make them appear. I have been RICAd, but still no services :(

Herewith a selection of the unsupportive and unhelpful messages from "support":

Monday 10/12 "Unfortunately frogfoot has not sent us confirmation for your line we cannot send out your router until we receive confirmation from frogfoot"

Thursday 13/12 "We dont have any confirmation from frogfoot as yet i have sent a mail to our service manager to assist with providing feedback as soon as they give us feedback i will let you know"

Friday 14/12 "They have not sent us confirmation as yet, what i can do is get a technician to give you a call to test the line. could you please provide us with a time that they can give you a call." (I gave times and NOBODY contacted me - not surprised).

Tuesday 18/12 "Thank you for your email, please note that we will follow up with the fibre line provider and revert back soonest."

Tuesday 18/12 "Thank you for your email, please note that we are awaiting feedback from Frogfoot and once we have confirmation we will be able to send out your router and get you connected."

Can you blame me for being frustrated?
And the service light has been on since last week Wednesday...

Yeah so if it's dropping it's more than likely a line fault, just log that your PPP session keeps dropping. Alternatively try a different router?

Thanks. Already tried alternative router and this is happening on 2 separate routers. Will keep an eye on it and if it persists, will log a fault.

Twitch 18 Dec 846.jpg

And twitch is already back to being inconsistent. Guess it was nice having working twitch for a few days at least.

*EDIT I can't even stream a card game without buffering let alone someone like lirik who's actually playing a proper game.

@PBCool

The honeymoon is over, cannot stream one international site. It was pure bliss the last four nights. Tonight I cannot stream one site. It started just after 830 pm.

Streaming for me has been 100% no matter the site etc. Give me something to test with ? All i can say for those that have issues is the congestion on your local ring

Sounds like Frogfoot alright. Hate dealing with them at my work. Weeks to get a client live that had fibre already installed. They don't know their head from their backside.

All these sites streaming perfectly until about two months ago when the trouble started. I am now convinced it is the fibre network.

It streamed perfectly for the last four nights when there was no one in my street.

Thank you for testing for me.

Okay im able to stream all 3 of those sites on channels alongside one another whilst i have got a twitch ChocoTaco stream and a plex stream open. So its congestion on your local network.

Thank you, cannot stream any of them, speedtest to jhb/london does not go over 5 mb. Local speedtest to Cape Town full 100 mb. I have been saying all along it is the fibre network, but they keep passing the blame to the ISP.
I hope @PBCool will be able to assist here. Paying more than a thousand a month to watch cat videos on Youtube if this does not get fixed.

You moved from vox to coolideas? On what fibre network are you?
Moved from Vox to Cool Ideas 27 November on the Octotel network, here in Vredekloof, Cape Town. My common sense tells me that it cant be two ISP's that are in the wrong. My son only has a 10 mb fibre with Balwins and he gets perfect speed and streaming, ISP also Cool Ideas.

Pretty much all that helps is when people in your area calm down. Just i think their back feed switches cant handle the load.
I dont do torrents or anything like that, the only thing I like to do is stream in the evening, that is when it is daytime in the States. It is frustrating when you cant even do that.

Just torrent the files you want then, but get onto your Fibre Providers case and tell them to upgrade the local stuff etc. Problem is when they do the tests they dont see that usage at night as its home time for them
