Cool Ideas Fibre ISP - Feedback

hmmm so my octotel line is being giving me grief as well. downloads from http/ftp/syncthing limited to like 400kb/s
Mega does give me 1mb/s though so yea *shrug*

Though i can say my speedtest to london is terrible

I live in Clarmeont in Southern Suburbs. So it seems to happening everywhere on Octotel's network.

I used to have the EXACT SAME ISSUE when I had telkom. It was never ever resolved for the 10+ years I had it. Like other's here I thought that fiber being a modern technology and Octotel being a new company this "congestion issue" would be a thing of the past. Well it looks I was wrong and Octotel might just be another Telkom. FML.

Like other's here I thought that fiber being a modern technology and Octotel being a new company this "congestion issue" would be a thing of the past. Well it looks I was wrong and Octotel might just be another Telkom. FML.

If I had congestion, I would vote with my wallet, cut my nose a little, and downgrade to cheapest package, notifying them why, that they don't deserve your money.

Aside from the joke. I'm sorry to hear that. It is comforting to know its not just me though. I've been complaining here on the forums almost nightly for 2+ months now. It seems we may have traded one Telkom for another.

Telkom never cared. I doubt Octo will either. They've passed critical mass point to make their business profitable. A few customers leaving won't make a difference. To me the only way this gets fixed is if CISP puts enough pressure on them. CISP know the correct channels to use and the right buttons to press to get something done.

Maybe I'm being too harsh on Octotel. All I can say is I've been having this issue for a while now and whenever I visit the CISP network page Octotel is NEVER doing maintenance. In the time I've been with them since feb I've seen maybe 2 or 3 maintenance notices of which only 1 has affected me. Every other fiber provider has 3 or 4 a month minimum.

We're aware of it and working through it with Octotel, they do care about the performance of their product.

That's good to hear. I have years worth of Telkom PTSD to work through so I'm hoping Octotel prove me wrong. I will be honest though, I was hoping they would take more of a pro-active approach to congestion but perhaps that isn't possible.

Anyway let me know if you need anything from me to help it along @PBCool. I'm eager to have this sorted.

To London would be CISP's issue.
On Octotel, there's definitely something funny. I notice the uploads to Mega.nz are shaky, but then again I cannot be sure it seems to conicide with people complaining about Twitch.

EDIT: uploading to Mega.NZ is now turned to shyte officially... Max speed is 200kbit/sec

Nope, LG TV connecting wirelessly to my Ubiquiti AP-AC-PRO 4m away, very good signal and speed. Might be related to that show, will check tonight with another one. Has always been perfect since June so just a blip.

How are you Vumatel guys finding performance? Any congestion or other issues like have been mentioned?

Currently experiencing poor upload speeds to mega.nz. And some overseas websites won't load but I cannot be sure where the problem lies.
Twitch.tv is a problem for some folks. I don't use it so I can't comment.
I upgraded on Tuesday to the 100/25 product, still waiting for Octotel to pull finger out the backside on that one.
 
So I've been having bad speeds to mega.nz right?
I reset the ONT and the router... and now its gone.
Let me guess... ONT is rubbish?
 
Hey guys, my first day on Cool ideas/vuma 100/10 package and getting some good local speeds (88, but international downloading seems to getting worse by the minute as mine is currently on 50kbps.
