Uncool... my support ticket is now closed on CISP portal, but the issue is not resolved. Are CISP hoping I'll just give up? @PBCool ? #COOL-20181018-161418

Well I put in cancellation this morning. Octotel might be partially to blame - but I don't see much being done by Cool Ideas either, besides the occasional post here.

Their support staff confirmed the only thing due to them is the return of their router.

Damn things must be BAD if u going back to telkom:(

If you take a look at my post from last night you'll see that a copper Telkom line out performs Octotel by quite some margin. So I fully support his decision, he deserves working internet at night.

Telkom 10meg is same price as 20meg fibre..dunno if I would go for something like that..I suppose it depends how desperate a person is

Really doesn't matter how fast your line is SUPPOSED to be, its what you get that matters. I mean at night Octotel can't even manage 10mb to JHB let alone 1mb to london. Telkom might be more expensive but you at least get 60-80% of your line speed with it to wherever.

Just to make everything worse there's been 0 feedback from CISP as to whats going on and no admission from Octotel there's an issue. I don't blame him. Hell I'm probably going to use Telkom in the evenings now that I know this.

Why are you guys blaming Octotel? The issue is with the ISP.

Because the issue is not with the ISP as evidenced by the numerous complaints about Octotel performance by customers of various ISPs.

Yet when you change your ISP to either Telkom etc as a test you get a different experience? If so, then i can’t see how Octotel is at fault here.

He's changing from fibre to copper lines. That has nothing to do with Octotel.

While I believe Octotel are to blame - Cool Ideas has been terrible on feedback - they seem to think it's ok that the clients must sit back waiting in suspense. I still do not see this "problem" listed on their "Network Status" page.

As a matter of interest - the people having issues - are you in an apartment building / gated community, or a normal suburb street?

No I changed from Octotel fiber + CISP to Openserve Copper + Telkom. I also know its Octotel because another user on here, has changed from VOX to CISP because she was told by Octotel that the ISP was the issue. It made no difference. @xrapidx Has also tried an alternate ISP and still had issues. No this is 100% an Octotel issue.

Residential/suburb street.

I do understand. But in this thread I’ve been reading many complaints from people that have backbone providers from Open Serve, Vumatel, Octotel etc and all have the same complaints as you have in the last couple of weeks. I am with Open Serve with the same issues. I’ve also seen multiple posts where people change as a test to a different ISP which resolves the issue. What is the common denominator here?

Cool Ideas!
