@CoolChick @TheRoDent @PBCool : Still waiting for a proper reply regarding COOL-20180711-122832 . Not one where I get told the highest speed I can get internationally is 10mbps on a 100mbps line. As we can seen in this thread plenty are getting more then that...

@stefan9 I am waiting for delivery of a network probe device that I can install on your line as I have done with various Octotel users over the last month, so that I can provide qualified results to Frogfoot as to packet loss and line quality.

My only probe in Cape Town is currently deployed elsewhere.

Are there problems with international at the moment? I cannot saturate my line with an NNTP download, even with 60 connections to the server. No packet loss present, MTR looks normal:

Getting 16-19MB/sec on a 200mbps line, nothing else is running / downloading.

Hi @GhostSixFour I have sent you instructions for your iperf test as requested by @TheRoDent.
Will DM you your ticket number

Responded to the mail received.

We're waiting on you to do the iPerf tests requested as per ticket #COOL-20190404-248866

[edit] What @CoolChick said :) [/edit]

Just want to clarify, I received this mail at 16:42 today only. Saying it like that makes it sound like you did something between yesterday and today about my ticket.

Just for me be curios when you talk about line quality.
What do you mean? Does the fibre get light noise or light loss? Also I was under the impression that if fibre has degree of loss switches just stop working.

Packetloss is the biggest enemy of a TCP connection. A line can be "up" but still drop packets. This can be due to optical levels, or congestion, or a bad patch, or a bad network cable. Lots of thing.

Good Day

I have had my Fibre with Cool Ideas since March 2016, when I signed up, I got the free router at the time. Back then, I was told that if I cancel in the first year, i just need to return the free router. The router blew due to a power surge about 7 months ago, so it is long gone.

I have sold my house, and so need to cancel my subscription.

I got told now that i would need to pay R400 fee because I cannot return the router.

To be honest, I find this really ridiculous and would never have taken the free router if this was told to me from the start.

@TheRoDent

Ok. RoDent seems there are two conflicting messages that I get. The one from you which makes more sense and the one from the guys manning the support ticket.

See why this would upset one quite a bit?

I work outside the ticket system in general, and have my own strateg(ies). I have another client on Frogfoot where the probe is installed currently. This is how I pressed Octotel into action.

The support team has to follow their diagnostics procedures, including cable replacements and all the usual bits and pieces, such as checking levels with the FNO, which is standard operating procedure to eliminate the usual suspects.

I was trying to explain to you what *I* am expecting to do for you, as an escalation measure.

My fourth day of no internet :,( WebAfrica tells me the line has been released, CI tells me they can’t claim it. I’m worried nothing will ever get done.

Half an hour later, no call back. Guess my hopes were dashed. Queue as well now.

EDIT: On the phone now, dude is quite polite and checking my issue. Will ask his name after, he's quite nice and seems clued up/willing to go and get more information.
He's a Mr Buhle.

If someone says they will call me back, I assume they won't and either connect with someone on another channel or escalate the problem then and there. Sadly this is the norm.

I still remember when I used to work in retail and would tell a customer I would call them back with the info they needed. 90% of the time they were surprised when I called back less than 20 minutes later.

99.9999% of the time it is this IMHO.
