I need some help from anyone with any networking skills. I can't really keep this short so patience is needed...

Cisp activated my fibre but during my order I informed them that I have two routers I might be able to use. The one was already inside my apartment when I moved in (Mikrotik Hex lite RB750r2) and I had my own (Microtik hAP RB951ui-2nd). I was told that I could use any of these two to get internet access.

The confusing part to me is that there is a Ethernet cable that comes out of the wall socket. This cable was connected to the router I found in the apartment. I assume this is somewhere connected to the fibre? There is no other CPE apart from the router (Mikrotik Hex lite) that was already in the apartment when I moved in.

I have learnt from the previous tentant that he used the fibre and that the router was the property of SADV who own the fibre infrastructure.

So I plug the Ethernet cable (the one from the wall) into my router, another cable from the router to PC, it picks up the network, says there is internet access however I can't use the internet. Figured it wouldn't be that easy.

So I reckon I would need to set up my router as a pppoe client in order to use the pppoe details provided by cisp (username & password). Thinking I am brave and that networking can't possibly be that complicated I reset my router to factory settings. Now I don't know how I should set the DHCP settings with pppoe client settings or any other for that matter?

9hours of searching google, trying various setup guides and after numerous router resets its safe to say I am looking in the wrong places or just literally an idiot...

To the point, does anyone here know where I can find a proper guide to get the router set up? Is there "A mikrotik setup guide for dummies" somewhere that explains the process from the factory reset? Or should I just wait for the router on its way from cool ideas? However I believe some sort of troubleshooting will be involved there too. Maybe a link to somewhere if someone knows how I can set up my existing router, if that is at all possible

Thanks

Do a trace route and see where the latency is coming from if you can. 8ms is still a bit high for the Vox account but better than the rest.

It's not an Openserve area issue. Centurion and Openserve is fine.

So randomly I get this weird "drop" in my connection. Every time it last for 4 pings, then comes back up. I haven't been able pinpoint what causes it. It doesn't happen too often, but often enough for me to notice it.

Not just you. For the last 4weeks maybe more international to my US servers would keep dropping/changing routes from after 9pm our time well within the early mornings. It became almost predictable that come 9pm I will start seeing international routing change every other hour.
