Thanks for the info. I changed to the default anyway. Maybe there are other considerations that make it more optimal for CISP customers.

What you really should do, is use an app like https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm

Then test a bunch of different DNS servers on your own connection, and see which perform the best. But keep in mind, not all DNS caching servers supports edns flag like Google's DNS servers, so those are really the only alternative to CISPs dns servers, if you want the on net content still.

@PBCool - Also did not receive the email notification to pay. Have since gone into the cool zone and have paid anyway. Have never had an issue receiving the email notification since I signed up. Something not lekker somewhere.

Actually this is not true anymore (it used to be the case).

With google supporting edns flags, you still get the on net content. See I get CISP Akamai!

Example:
Code:
~ $ dig cdn.steampowered.com @8.8.8.8

; <<>> DiG 9.10.3-P4-Ubuntu <<>> cdn.steampowered.com @8.8.8.8
;; global options: +cmd

;; QUESTION SECTION:

cdn.steampowered.com.	59	IN	CNAME	storefront.akamai.steamstatic.com.edgesuite.net.

a1189.g1.akamai.net.	19	IN	A	154.0.14.7

Well that's good news, but what is the reason for using Googles recursive instead of ours which is on-net?

Nothing weird on the mail queues etc, so rather strange.

Maybe it wasnt on the mail server queues, but on the server generating the invoices where something didn't happen?

Spot checked a few and have the delivery report, we've all checked Junk Mail folders obviously?
