Speedtests are fine although upload speeds to google and anything today seems to be rather poor. Any reason for that ? My ping results etc are all perfect not a congestion issue etc.
Remember Google manage things beyond the peering point, so depends what is happening on their network and how they manage sessions etc.

what is the timeframe for Vuma to install the CPE after placing an order with Cool Ideas?
Depends on area and workload, aerial or Trenched etc. But usually anything up to two weeks maximum.

am asking for a friend his in Mondeor, convinced him to go with Cool Ideas. I advised him to wait at least 2 weeks, it is the 3rd week and hasn't got communication from VUMA.

after doing his application online did he actually do it also on the vuma site ? that was my clients issue and called me a month later asking that

The application was done only on CISP website. So the correct procedure is to apply on Vuma portal https://shop.vumatel.co.za/ ?

Go to this site https://vumatel.co.za/coverage#map

Then enter the address if all is fine you place the order and they should contact him today still.

this is what the email should have looked like

Good day,

Your application has been received and processed, thank you very much!

Please respond to this mail once Vumatel has installed your CPE box and you see an orange light shining on the Vumatel CPE box. At that point, we can configure your router and courier it to you as requested in your application below.

If you have not ordered your Vumatel fibre line yet, please click this link to order your fibre with Vumatel --> www.vumatel.co.za/coverage

We can’t wait to get you up and running on the COOLest network around!

Yes hence why in our application form it asks if there is a CPE installed, yes/no and if no apply via Vumatels website.

what makes you not just apply on behalf of the customer(You do have all their information afterall, or just not gonna employ extra people), when i worked at afrihost part of setting this up with a API was done on behalf of the company so no staff needed then.

It's part of our new application form which is being tested, but we are on over 20 networks which all have a different application process so it needs to be quite elaborate, we are trialing it with Vumatel to start.

The order process from Vumatel actually just generates a form which someone picks up, not really anything API.

Yeah lets say Vuma is modern OpenServe yeah another day with that site for orders. And the followup sheets dealing with so ineffective

Vuma seems to be worse than OpenServe which in fact has given me so far really good service apart from their portal issues.

I haven't had any real issues with my cisp either and its be great; much better then where I came from.

OS service depends on the day, their lines are pretty stable to be honest from an uptime perspective. But they have also had stuff in the ground for decades so it should be expected :). Vumatel on average are one of the better, we deal with smaller players that are shaving years off my life.

Hi PBCool, another DNS issue in Cape Town tonight.

** server can't find eservices.capetown.gov.za: SERVFAIL

$ nslookup eservices.capetown.gov.za 154.0.1.1
Server: 154.0.1.1
Address:	154.0.1.1#53

$ nslookup eservices.capetown.gov.za 1.1.1.1
Server: 1.1.1.1

Thanks Paul.

I think part of the delay also was that he couldn't differentiate the Vuma Boundary Wall Box and CPE. Because of that confusion, he ticked that the CPE is installed on the application, which is not.

We always absorb R1000, which we are doing already in this circumstance :)

Yeap Frogfoot does the line installation.

Hi PBCool, any luck with the installation fee waiving? I've placed my order and will PM you the ticket # :)

PS: I see the setup fee has been corrected on Frogfoot portal :)
