Have you tried to call

If it's urgent I would recommend calling in, updating a ticket constantly unfortunately actually delays the response and action as it keeps moving the ticket to the back of the queue. I see the link down has been logged with SADV.

As a matter of interest, if we call would we not just be put through the rigmarole of doing 101 traceroutes and plugging our laptop into a LAN cable because "it may be your wifi" -- where in a case like this we can see multiple people across SA, across multiple fibre providers all reporting the same error?

Perhaps I should elaborate, if we told the guys on the phone about the multiple reports on MyBB - would they still ask us to go through all the basic tests instead of investigating the undeniable international connectivity issue that was experienced last night?

Very cool.

But looks like there some tweaking to be done.

For example, some things are better:
h.root-servers.net - 198.97.190.53
Went from 230ms to 200ms
See https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=Root-Servers.H

Then some things are worse:
c.root-servers.net - 192.33.4.12
Went from 150ms to 210ms
See https://netmon.heaven.za.net/smokeping/smokeping.cgi?target=Root-Servers.C

Assuming thats London IP that now the inbound is over Anglo but the outbound is still over London.

That said, very cool to have the new path online!

Heres a traceroute from sao paulo server to coolideas.co.za:

I'm assuming that jump from 140ms to 228ms has to do with the inbound and outbound routes as well?

Have you tried the "Alternate Player for Twitch.tv" (Twitch 5 in Edge and Firefox) browser extension in Chrome?

I've been using that for more than a year, even with fibre now and have no issues streaming Twitch ever.

Account is performing like a donkey since around 7pm yesterday evening! Anything other than local is running at around 10% of max line speed....

Anyone else battling with TTConnect in Edenglen?

I have been up and down all morning.

Re setting the ONT helps for about 5 minutes.

yeah int speeds are not so great, use to always get my 90-100mbps on them no matter the day or time

added are results over time to the UK

Seeing high latency to Mweb Vumatel user in Durban. I'm CPT based on Vumatel Tamboerskloof.

This would be on Mweb's side if I am not mistaken since it is outside the CISP network?

Not sure what the heck they are doing :/

Why would an external party have this to say about my ISP when I inquired why my download speed from them are so poor. I'm not expert in these things - but these people seem to know what they are talking about. May this explain why international speeds aren't always what they should be ?

So - if what that guy says is true - then ja - what do you say about those graphs hey. In saying that - maybe there is a counter argument to his statement, but I won't know, as I don't know enough about how peering works to make any sort of valid comment.

I think at the end of the day as a consumer who demands the best there is, which is why i signed up with CISP in the first place, its frustrating when you pay a ^$^% load of money for something that doesn't perform at its best most of the time, and in particular I'm talking about international speeds. Local works lekker, but who consumes most of their data in SA - everything is on the other side of the pond.

Cheers

We would need @PBCool to answer that for us. i dont run an ISP or ever intend to i only sell products to one of them. After having a quick read around i know that HE seems to be decent from what they say. I would always get my download speed on my line to the UK etc till the last day or 2. But it might just be some routing issue or something along those lines.

I do know buying capacity is a big deal like on the telkom network to buy 10Gbps capacity to cape town from JHB is around R500 000. I could only imagine that international capacity being crazy expensive. Scary fact is that Telkom/Openserve has got the biggest fibre network in SA.
