@Bighit - I am in Durbanville area, close to Tyger Valley. My router and fibre cpe are on UPS so it never goes down - to miss that infamous dhcp storm and to be able to use it for work from the laptop. Tonight the internets stopped working just before 21:00 - incidentally just before the electricity reappeared. It came back about 20 minutes ago.

So no power cycling of any equipment on my end, but something obviously went very wrong on the other end of the fibre.

What I also noticed tonight is that just before load shedding started, my Internet dropped and couldn't connect. A minute later, the power trips.

You're lucky that you're back on, I've still got nothing (Stellenberg Area)

Well, there goes my plan to get some sort of UPS solution for my CPE and router if Vumatel drops the connection anyway.

Yeah, Unfortunately the Vumatel DHCP floods are hectic :/

Been dealing with the NOC and it's been bit chaotic due to the number of support requests they are getting.

@kripstoe, I've just bought one and should arrive Wednesday. Still not a bad idea to get one because hopefully Vuma will sort their shi service out.

International 99% dead here as well :(

@RenegadeWolf @MDE @Seeyou @sybawoods @zolly

That's in regards to Octotel by the way.

Sorry guys I meant to bring you into this last night but I usually don't make a habbit of staying up until 1am reading mybb so it slipped my mind. The conversation was interesting through.

This is good news but I'm not gonna lie, since load shedding started my total bandwidth has gone up to about 15 megs in the evenings, where it was sitting at around 8.

My only problem is the random timeouts I get on my line. Last for about 3 pings and then goes back to normal, but that's enough to boot me from Apex Legends.

Edit. Also my Twitch is working flawlessly tonight.

What I dont understand is this:

Power went out from 12 till 2 this afternoon (same volume and areas as 8 till 10 tonight)
Internet was up like 5 minutes later.

Now tonight's 8 till 10... power came back early...
No internet after 30 minutes...

Surely it should be the same volume of people trying to reconnect?

Exactly how I experienced it, it is now more than 2.5 hours since power restored and still no internet. After cyclying the power on cpe the blue power light is flashing again. This afternoons loud-shedding was without issues, but tonight's is all broken again.

Well my Vuma line is basically useless since 9pm, everything just times out. Typing this on Vodacom LTE (which is just as shocking while the power is out, although it's actually usable now)

Keep getting disconnects every couple minutes. Speed seems fine but connection Just’s drops every few minutes. Vumatel trenched

As far as I can tell from the emails they have been sending me today, they are doing maintenance across the network to improve the DHCP servers response to processing the requests.

They confirmed that they had to make changes last night at around 23:45 which require reboots of the servers which caused my link (Not on CISP) to go down. After logging a ticket with the NOC, they responded just after midnight confirming this was the case.

They are most likely still making changes on certain areas. (A very rough explanation, there is a lot more to it, but after pulling multiple long hour shifts, I do not have the energy to type up a long explain.)

My Twitch is a bit patchy tonight. Streams taking long to load and buffering like a mofo on 1080p. It's very inconsistent. International access does seem slow overall...mmmm

Openserve 100/50mb line.

You lucky to have internet, over here still dead in the water with a blue flashing power light on the CPE.
